Re: SUM OG Utilities - Overview Post

The problem is that it would not be possible to use such a system to download/install the mods You can use launch application links, or you could hardcode a download folder and fetch the required files from there. If we're being Awesomium specific, here is a link: http://support.awesomium.com/discu...

Re: SUM OG Utilities - Overview Post

I've been thinking about writing a quick mod catalogue website for a while now. Wouldn't it just be easier to write one website for browsing, commenting, voting and downloading(as opposed to having the Mod Manager connect to anything), and then open it inside OG (like Steam does with its store) And ...

Re: Overgrowth MMO

You have some good ideas, but: * OG will never support lots of players. * Wolfire won't make an MMO. So let go of those ideas. Let's consider 12 players (NPC and Human) in a game. This is around the average number of players in a sports game and more than any human can readily keep track of at any o...

Re: Multiplayer enhancement [Brainstorm]

Adventure: Teams are divided into protagonists and NPCs. The protagonists play together through a single-player level while the second team takes on all the roles of the various NPCs that would fill that level (friendly-ones with a chat-like dialog system, and enemy ones). The NPC team can switch be...

Re: Problem controlling Robbert?

This isn't surprising, 8/9 are hardly intuitive.
I'm working on a quickstart infographic right now that will hopefully become part of the game and stop this from happening to anyone ever again.

Re: Unofficial alpha 83, weekly build

Problems! -I had to run this "as Administrator" to get it to take less than 30mins to load a level. -The config file keeps getting locked so I can't edit it? Quickfix: Move it somewhere else, edit it, and move it back -I keep trying to use Robbert to work out the scale of things, but he ke...

Re: Combat controls thread

It would be cool to have it so that you can bind as many controls to a single key as you like. This is awesome because the game's actions are already context sensitive, so it will only execute the action/s that can be done in the current context. If that is a lot of actions, it can just do the first...

Re: Scene makeup: Will my dream scenario be possible?

not enabling the player to watch the cave from different angles as some of them would look really awkward This makes no sense, are you thinking of a sprite? A model is 3d, by the very nature of it you can look at it from more than one angle. models are mostly for linear-based games What is a linear...

Re: Multiplayer map editing?

I talked about actually making this as a mod with Jeff months ago, but Overgrowth didn't have the required calls open (Like making a new block in a client's game) so I would've had to hijack the mouse and all sorts, needless to say it looked really messy. I don't know if they've opened up those vari...

Re: Scene makeup: Will my dream scenario be possible?

In industry, they just use models of caves and put them on top of terrain. It's not hard to do, that's why they do it in industry. So if you want caves, do what they do in industry and make a cave model. Overgrowth isn't about caves. If you really wanted that effect right now without modeling you co...
