Re: How I found Lugaru (How did you?)

I found Wolfire through iDevGames before Lugaru existed.

2003 is old? That's harsh...

2003 is six years and two chipsets ago.

Re: the Seven Tasks - a mini campaign

On Insane difficulty, you kind of just have to be hardcore at times-- isn't that what Insane is for, though?

Also recall the race style guide-- if you look at the section for dogs, it references "nanocrete" as a material used in their buildings.

Re: Lugaru:Empire, Another Campaign!

A good but flawed campaign. A lot of levels seemed really cool (the boulder levels in particular), but others felt highly contrived and tiresome, especially the fights in which the game disarms you for no reason other than to make the upcoming battle more difficult. Also, this is a little heavy on t...

Re: Reply on a comment/don't want to register/Combat suggestion

Stats, especially multiplayer stats, are ridiculous. Players in any non-MMO should be rewarded based on their actual ability, not the amount of time they've spent playing. Time spent playing brings experience which improves skill naturally; an artificial mechanism to make players better after playin...

Re: The Races of Lugaru

I see dogs as sturdy, strong, down-to-earth, and dependable, yet rather simple-minded, favoring the use of more direct weapons like staves, maces, or swords rather than the finesse of a rapier, dagger, or smallsword. They fight honorably and are unwilling to desert their friends and allies, which ma...

Different stances, especially for weapons, that offer different combinations of speed, damage, and ability to be reversed, blocked, or otherwise countered.

I saw someone with the account name "Lugaru" on another board once and actually asked if he was David. He wasn't.

Re: MacWorld

Ambrosia used to be a very good games developer, with titles such as Avara and the legendary Escape Velocity series. Now they focus more on ports. That's not necessarily a *bad* thing, just the way it goes. Personally, I liked their own titles better than the ones they port, but they still do a top-...

Re: Player/AI Technique Gaps

I don't know how you'd go about trying to dodge more than one knife throw. Or one at all, if you happen to be countering or attacking, as I sometimes like to do. The enemy would not be able to throw knives into the middle of hand-to-hand combat. Obviously the knife throw would be unfair for the com...

Re: Player/AI Technique Gaps

There have to be techniques that you can do that Ai can't, and likewise there are moves they can perform that you can't. AI tech is really not that advanced, they are still very smart, and most of those techs are hard to do anyway. For some people, that is. What moves can an AI rabbit perform that ...

Right, but for some reason the computer can't do those (rather basic) moves.
