Re: Is there a some kind of protection for the Exe file
I remember an interview with john carmack where he admitted to receiving emails complaining about the performance of doom3 based on the leaked alpha. people won't see this as a good tech demo for the way things are shaping up, they'll see it as a demo of a game with issues and very few working gamep...

the alphas used to be drmed back in the day, you had to enter your pre-order code when you first started it up.

Re: Four fingers?
I think you miss how much work has gone into making the worlds believable. It's one of those cases where if the author is doing their job well, you won't even consider how real the world is. By believable, it doesn't mean all of the laws of physics need to be the same as here, it simply means that i...

Re: Game Style/Direction Suggestions
I don't really care for splitting storylines or any of that jazz.
I do hope that the game is as sandboxy as Lugaru, the secret of that game's success was allowing the player to tackle the problem any way he saw fit and it's something not many games allow for.

Re: How did you find about Overgrowth?
I was linked to your blog by 2DBoy when you posted your design tour of world of goo, from there I preordered overgrowth to get at the alpha but didn't realise all it had was the meshes

Re: Four fingers?
I think the whole point of a fantasy setting is the fact that you actually can explain a lot of stuff with "Oh it's fantasy." While it's true you can't just explain everything that way, stuff like the anatomy of the characters hands definitely falls under "Oh it's fantasy" I'd r...

Re: Four fingers?
all right, the lot of you, quit with the rage. Complaining about anatomy in a fantasy game. Ok, this is a ridiculously pedantic complaint, but it seems to me anatomically incorrect that your rabbits and wolves and so on are walking on two legs and using martial arts. Most mammals walk on their four ...

Re: Invisible walls
The idea of some kick arse enemy killing you if you wander too close to the map edge has been brought up overand over again in this thread, and rather than argue it again, i'm just going to quote me. Having an army of ninjas waiting in hiding around the map edge is just as impossible as an invisible...

Re: RACES
Oh an about that mirror thing, well that's just absolute piss wash, my cat has no issues looking in the mirror and seeing himself, not some other random cat. i think you might be giving your cat a little too much credit there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirror_test This whole thing reminds me of ...

to add a little more fuel to the fire, http://science.slashdot.org/story/10/11/23/144228/Oxford-Scientists-Say-Dogs-Are-Smarter-Than-Cats Theres quite a lot of spite in a lot of the comments over there, it's quite funny. They are a community priding themselves on their logic and scientific method, b...

haha, at least you're honest about it...
i didn't realise that 24 hour thing, do you have any links to anything about it? sounds like an interesting read, what were the reasons for this, was this to aid storytelling or more of a budgetary thing? consider my interest piqued!

cats aren't smarter than dogs, that's just cartoons, dude. The best argument I heard for where this myth comes from is that because cats don't understand cause and effect, it can be mistaken for independence.Wilbefast wrote:Cats are too clever: brain will always win against brawn

Re: Concerned about Linux version
If they ever did cancel support for linux, I at least know it would be because there was no other reasonable choice, wolfire got on their high horse too much with "why you should support linux" to back down now :) also, Yeah, kinda sad about DeathSpank and Primal Rage being cancelled for L...
