Re: Overgrowth on linux
The "we just don't know" argument is a non-argument: a badly-designed nuclear power-plant might not explode, Oh please, even ignoring your hyperbolic example material, comparing a port made some time later in the dev process as opposed to from day one to 'a badly-designed nuclear power-pl...

Re: Overgrowth on linux
Next time though, next game you make, I would much rather see a Linux version than a Linux port. Yes, there is a difference. I think you're being prematurely pessimistic. We don't know what the quality of the final product will be, but Ryan Gordon always does good work. When we have the Linux versi...

Re: Overgrowth on linux
"Alpha" and "Beta" are just names without any convention defining them I am using them in the common sense of "before major feature freeze" and "after major feature freeze". It does bother me sometimes though that we've been promised the same and have paid th...

Re: Overgrowth on linux
As I've said before, I'm totally chill about the schedules and things, while Overgrowth is in alpha. If we get to beta or RCs with no sign of a penguin flavoured Overgrowth, then I'll start to squawk* about it.

Re: Concerned about Linux version
Didn't Wolfire have a backup plan in case Awesomium support doesn't come through? This is an interesting question. I sure hope the answer isn't 'No Linux Awesomium == No Linux Overgrowth'. However, Khrona has repeatedly promised a Linux version, but nothing has seen the light of day yet. I'm not to...

Re: Open Source is Go
First reaction: "Awesome!" Upon reading the source code:  The source code is terrifyingly bad[1]. I've looked at the Black Shades source previously, so I knew what to expect, but man. Don't get me wrong; this is awesome, and Wolfire is awesome, but the code as it stands seems unmain...

Re: No Lugaru sound on Ubuntu Karmic Koala (64-bit)?
Run Lugaru with the command $ padsp ./lugaru # or, put this in your launcher. This emulates OSS (API calls made through reads and writes to the /dev/dsp device) and should give you glorious sound. EDIT: You can use your system OpenAL too, of course. I had performance problems when I did that, unfort...
