Humans are boring.
That said, I hope the origin of the ruins gets left ambiguous. It's more fun that way, because then we all get to wonder, and I still get to say that they're not human ruins and nobody can prove me wrong.

Re: Awesomium and Linux support
I think the future of PC gaming is in linux The future of gaming in general is probably Linux; it's starting to power pretty much everything. Can you still buy anything with computer components in it — save for, y'know, a computer — that doesn't run Linux? An Xbox. Well, yes, I was exaggerati...

Well, if they can instantly kill you, it makes sense that there's a way to instantly kill them right back.

A game about ninja rabbits...hhhmmmm.... i'd say overgrowth will last 60 years. :D >_> or more thanks to the furries & cosplayers... You're welcome. =D I think a game can continue to be played long into the future if there's always another layer to uncover. You don't need multiplayer or even mo...

Re: First Person Shooter?
I believe you're talking about Zeno Clash. Personally, the gameplay was a bit boring. Your mom's gameplay is a bit boring. Oh snap. Well, actually, Zeno Clash isn't perfect, but the fighting system is quite deep when you put it all together. The timing on some moves is unforgiving, and one of the g...

Re: Why Games need to be Fun (now with more breasts)
we need Uwe Boll's for our share of Slimey Dog action. Uwe Boll doesn't even do that well. Michael Bay is a better example. One thing that struck me is his declaration that games don't need to be fun I have some faith that Crawford isn't an idiot for saying that, he's just using the wrong word. Of ...

Re: Games with good writing
A lot of games have pretty good writing that functions. Very few games have particularly great writing. The trap I see a lot of games falling into is the fact that they have a very well developed plot but don't do much with the characters. The plot can be the most intricate and riveting turn of even...

Re: Wolfire Site going up and down?
App Engine was down last night, according to the official Wolfire Twitter account. I'd say that's why.
Blame Google.

Re: Phoenix Engine licensing for other indie developers?
That's what happens for most Source mods that become a game. Once they get enough support and fans as a mod, they liscense the engine and are no longer required to have HL2 as a constraint. See 'The Ship' for an example of a sourcemod turned into a full scale game. The problem with that is the fact...

Re: Phoenix Engine licensing for other indie developers?
Phoenix Engine shouldn't be cheap just because it's made by five guys, but the mods for this mod-friendly game could become distinct enough to be sold on their own. But selling those mods on their own would no doubt require the ability to compile a new binary that doesn't depend on Overgrowth. Unle...
