Re: Weapon Addition Thread - Updated Oct. 4th (Mini-update)

Suggestion for your next weapon: Winchester 1892 or other lever-action rifle. Controls would be almost identical to the pump-action shotgun. I have a half-complete model of the 1892 saved somewhere on my computer I could finish up and contribute if you want. Modern reproductions of pistol-caliber le...

Re: Rem. 870 - Updated Sept. 25

Dragon's Breath. Add it nao. :P If it's added, then you need to make sure that if the shooter pumps before it's finished firing that a trail of flames continues to come out of the shell casing, likely killing the shooter. Also, I can't imagine Dragon's Breath being as effective as buckshot against ...

Re: I've been working on adding the Rem. 870

Since you want some advice, I'll give you some. I don't necessarily have experience with the Remington 870, but I do know how pump-action firearms operate. I've done some research and found sources which explain far better than I can how devastating shotguns are. LOADING THE SHOTGUN HowStuffWorks do...

Re: Bringing Receiver gun mechanics to the Source Engine

I don't know how far you've gotten, but it may be a better idea to use Garry's Mod as the foundation, having Receiver mode work as a custom gamemode within Garry's Mod. Reasons: Same Engine: Existing maps will work, though not with the CS:GO Materials. Coding difficulty: Lua code is easier than C, a...

Re: GPU Temperature unusually high

From what I can tell the "Fastest" option does all of nothing. The high temperatures are caused by the massive number of dynamic per-pixel lighting operations receiver uses. Unlike most games, you can see hallways lined with dozens of light bulbs. Each of these bulbs is a dynamic light whi...

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Agreed, although it being the first 3D Zelda I played, I disliked the bow in other versions-personal opinion. I'll admit that the bow was pretty good in Twilight Princess. Multiple frustrating moments. Not for me, what were they? That one minigame at the fishing place where you have to guide the ba...

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

What makes Ocarina of Time so good: Original gameplay. Solid controls. Challenging puzzles. Wide variety of sidequests, few of which were boring. A decent story which isn't shoved in the player's face. Overall, the entire game fit together better than most and felt so great, even among today's games...

Re: Web-sites for noobs

I highly recommend hosting the game on filefront.com. You'll have to find a different host for the site, however, and I'm not up to date on what the good free web hosts are.

Re: save vs. checkpoint vs. respawn: Load and Death systems.

A checkpoint system is probably the best, if it can be implemented perfectly. By perfectly, I mean have on just before and just after every tough section. But that's a lot of checkpoints! That's a ton of work, and if the checkpoints don't override each other, there could be problems. Generally, game...

Re: Best route to make this game.

I recommend you use flixel. It uses actionscript, which is based off of Javascript if I remember correctly, you do not need to buy Flash, and the final product is as cross-platform as flash player is.
Pygame works too, but you have to do much more work than if you use flixel.

Re: I saved someone's life and now they hate me

Just give her some time. Leave her alone for a few months, then call and see if she's doing better. If not, call back again in another few months. If she is better, she'll probably not be hating you so much.

Re: Movie software

If you're looking for something that's free, Blender has a built-in video editor, despite being a 3D modelling and animation program. It's called the sequence editor in the program itself. http://www.blender.org/

I highly recommend that you find a free replacement to the Alarm Sound and Battle Music. Both of those are copyrighted and almost certainly not under free licenses like the other tracks.

Re: Click or just Hold

Holding the button with a weapon makes you automatically attack as soon as someone is in range. Which is the only way to use the sword effectively because it gets countered so much otherwise. So that's why I had better luck going unarmed against wolves. This is something that should be taught in th...

Re: Introducing a mod-manager for Lugaru

Can anyone tell me how to get this running on a mac? I got an error in line 39, I think it said. Thank you for testing this out on a Mac. Unfortunately, neither I nor anybody else is entirely sure how to get it running on a Mac, because you're the first person with a Mac to post something. That bei...
