I don't know if this will solve the steam problems that others are having, but after installing this build I just opened steam, went to "Games," then "Add a non steam game to my library", and added Overgrowth. I launched Overgrowth from Steam's Library window, and everything work...

ATI Radeon HD 4870 with 1 gig of ram. Runs great!
