Re: RACES
What about some Woodchuck love? A strong hearty race that live in deep underground fortresses (dwarf-like). Fierce warriors with no weakness other than seeing their own shadow!

Re: Who wants 9yr-old Huey written into Overgrowth??
Maybe add in his super elite assassin specifically trained to hunt Turner in as one of the badies that shows up a few times after you piss off someone in the Overgrowth world.

Re: Pathetic incompetence - the Wolfire story, too?
You can't really say that everyone who has kept track of Overgrowths development for an extended period of time wont be able to then be an objective tester. I agree with the idea your getting at in the post, but it is possible to be objective after being close to something for a while. It's obviousl...

Yeah, that post was kinda random.
Re: Fan Art
The ears are quite small, but otherwise that's a really nice rabbit. I like the shape and shading in that one, very smooth. Thank you. I had noticed the ears were a bit on small side but didn't want to spend a huge amount of time making small fixes over and over while I am still learning how to mak...

Re: Irritations and Failures in comparable games
I wish I remember what the exact quote was, where I read it, or who actually said it, but I do know it had to do with an article about game development. It was something along the lines of if the game is made under the assumption that the player wont exploit a system designed to be exploitable, no m...

Re: A movement system that rocks........
The Brink S.M.A.R.T. button is a one button does all action button for movement throughout the environment. Instead of the separate up and down action buttons like Mirror's Edge, they have the camera determine whether or not the player wants to slide or jump. Slide by pointing the camera below the m...
Re: Fan Art
Quick thing I made as part of my work to get used to using a Wacom tablet. Not the most exciting thing ever, but I plan on doing some more action based pose stuff in the future while I work on my figure drawing in general. Haven't quite learned how to do the coloring just yet, and still experimentin...

Re: A movement system that rocks........
That would be similar to how Mirror's Edge did it, with an up and down button for the jumps and slides (basically). Probably a better way of doing it if there is a little more control needed. They probably chose to use only one button for Brink because they wanted to be able to use all the other but...

Re: A movement system that rocks........
Yeah, it was the gameplay videos that reminded me of Mirrors Edge. I didn't know about the game when the first bit of media came out, so the first video I ended up seeing was a very short clip of the S.M.A.R.T system. Basically a first person view of the player running at something, vaulting up and ...

Re: A movement system that rocks........
It does look very promising as a movement system. One of the recent videos (might be your link, didn't actually watch it) has a good amount of footage of someone jumping around with it to show off some things you can do, and it didn't look bad. The first time I saw anything about the game Mirrors Ed...

Re: Irritations and Failures in comparable games
I usually disabled it too. I didn't so much have a problem with the system, or using it to block attacks, it would just get annoying in long battles with my mouse that is set to rather high sensitivity for other games that I play. It also probably didn't help that I am a rather tend to move a bit wh...

Re: Chainsaws
They could just go all Jackie Chan on their asses and whip out the Kung-Fu and Ladders.
Or better yet. Tony Jaa, Kung-Fu, Chainsaws and Ladders. It would be a twirling kick, ladder sweeping, slicing tornado of knees and elbows.

Re: Revisiting multiplayer
Versus multiplayer would be interesting, but I have a feeling the combat wouldn't play out quite the way it does in single player. Besides the possible latency issues that would more than likely cause problems for the contextual timing based controls, it would probably just be a constant counter spa...

Re: Games with interesting Stealth Mechanics
From the small amount I have seen, Bloodlines does look pretty interesting, but it's hard to say how it really is without actually playing it. Or maybe seeing a multiplayer game from several points of view at once to see how it all plays out. I can't help but feel that the only real stealth involved...
