Re: Overgrowth RPG

So here's what I'm thinking: If it's a Play-by-Post type of setup, I'll use the Simple D6 system. It was designed specifically for that kind of play format. If it's a live-chat setup, I think I'm going to use Savage Worlds. Updated Rabbit race stats: Rabbits Good Jumpers: Rabbits can jump 18 feet fr...

Re: Overgrowth RPG

It would be cool to do something like this, but I don't think just doing it via a forum would be as fun as having voice chat or something like that. But that will of course require several people to be on at the same time. I like the idea, but I don't know how this could be solved. I've done Play-b...

Re: Overgrowth RPG

Alternatively, we could use the Simple D6 system from those wacky guys on 4chan.

Re: Overgrowth RPG

Brief me, what's the Savage World's system? I'm assuming this is some sort of table-top RPG setup? I believe I inquired on the IRC once if anyone would play a table-top style RPG if I invented one that worked via the internet as a sort of real-time chat service with support for a dice-roll syntax a...

Re: Overgrowth RPG

These are some tentative racial templates I came up with, just to give you a feel for the type of game I'd like to run. Rabbits Good Jumpers: Rabbits can jump 9 feet from a standstill and 12 feet with a run and go. A successful Strength roll grants three extra feet of distance. Keen Hearing: +2 to N...

Overgrowth RPG

Hello, everyone! I've been playing around with the idea of running an Overgrowth RPG using the Savage Worlds system. It's a fun system; fast, simple, and customizable, sort of like Overgrowth! It will be a combat-oriented game, obviously. I was thinking of setting it sometime after Turner's coup, wh...

Re: Story idea

Are the monoliths growing faster than they can be cut back? Never thought of that as a plot element. Having a (mostly) inanimate resource be too abundant isn't really the first conflict you think of when you write a story. Ha, yeah. At first glance it's not much of a conflict. Not very suitab...

Re: Story idea

The big question you need to answer is this: Why is it important that the characters in your story know or understand the "true" nature behind the monoliths? What makes your setting fluff here important to your story? Is there some sort of plague that only ancient human technology can cure? Is there...

Re: Opinion on the dialogue ideas.

At this point there isn't enough information for me to make any sort of judgment. Dialogue can work if it's spoken or written, it just depends on the type of game. Speech bubbles seem too convenient and casual for a game like Overgrowth. I don't think voice acting would be appropriate either. The un...

Re: A few questions from a noob

Three Rules of Wolf Fighting: 1. NEVER FIGHT MULTIPLE WOLVES AT ONCE, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER DIFFICULTY LEVELS. I've tried many different tactics and strategies for fighting numerous Wolves at once and none of them work very well at all. They are too fast and strong, especially on the Insane difficult...

Re: Multiplayer. My personal plea to wolfire.

I eagerly await the single-player port of Overgrowth so I can build my own maps and create my own stories. Lugaru was a great example of how a single-player game can still be multiplayer in a sense. Although it was difficult, a good number of players created their own maps and stories with the Lugar...

Re: Story Wise

I feel there should be multiple characters for multiple types of players to relate to, and hence a larger background world The strongest relationship in the story should be between the players and the protagonist. I agree with you, however, that the game should include some basic explanations of th...

Re: Story Wise

@endo - I definitely dont want to see anything related to the actual overgrowth game storyline. I was more referring to a desire to see more general worldlore (timeline, official map, religions, more detailed racial/clan backgrounds, geopolitics, economics, famous cities (are there even cities?) et...

Re: Overgrowth Multiplayer discussion

At this point talking about multiplayer functionality, or anything other than finishing the game, is premature.

There is so much modding capability wrapped up in Overgrowth that I wouldn't be surprised if multiplayer capability made its way into the game in the form of a fan made modification.

Re: Overgrowth Trailer

Excellent trailer, Jendraz!

It really captures the sense of scope in Overgrowth, and the fight scenes fit perfectly with the music by the very talented Anton.

I can't wait to see more!
