Re: 40k Mod Team

Hey, that's not a bad idea for the models at least, if I can get everything properly converted and working. I'd still need an animator, though.

Thanks for the constructive input!

40k Mod Team

I've had an interest in trying my hand at a Warhammer 40,000 mod for a while. My problem is I don't have any contacts that could provide models/animations for this. Is anyone interested in teaming up and taking a crack at this with me? I need at least an experienced artist, and if any coders are int...

Re: What features do you want in the full game

Not sure if this is the right place to post since it's more of a minor feature, but, I'd really like to see the possibility to bounce of walls and objects by pushing something at the right time. It'd be a real cool addition to the parkour factor Thanks You can? Just press shift right after you hit ...

Re: Unofficial Overgrowth a164, weekly build

If you've ever wanted to feel like a god in Overgrowth, now's your chance before David balances the knife. :) Just hold LMB, and block / dodge as usual. You can still block during knife swings! Without the knife, two enemies is a hefty challenge, but not insurmountable. Using this method, it's absol...

Re: When fighting, the game lags badly?

If I recall correctly, animations aren't loaded until they're called. So, if that's your problem, try fighting for a few moments in a 1v1, and working all the animations out. If it persists, especially in fights with more characters, it's likely the ragdoll/physics once you have bodies start piling ...

Re: Punching?

The game is far from completion. Anyone who has been playing for a while, will recall a time when you could hip-toss an opponent after any attack, and there was no way to reverse it. It was completely OP. I'm positive the rabbit kick will be balanced, as well.

Re: Punching?

Johannes, it's not about holding/tapping. Attacks do not become more or less powerful. It's just like this (with the default player character): Standing close to your opponent / not moving = knee strike standing far / not moving = front kick standing close / moving = jab standing far / moving = roun...

Re: The Leg Hook (Video)

Yeah. I hope David doesn't remove the ability to perform actions like I did in that video. Furthermore, he really needs to figure out a way to keep the ragdoll button in the game, so we can do the sorts of things you've been making videos about. That's what I love about Overgrowth: I have my own sig...

Re: The Leg Hook (Video)

I'm loving your videos!! The ability to "exploit" David's procedural animation and physics to do new moves is the main reason I bought the game.

Check this out. I managed to blend the roll and the sweep kick into a totally different attack.

Re: Overgrowth: Combat Techniques; Experiences, Tips and Tri

I intentionally try to avoid unfair advantages. I don't use the rabbit kick, and if I'm using a weapon, I give the enemies one too. Good man. I usually do 1v1 or 2v1. On co-op, we'll usually fight 3 or 4. I almost never use weapons (because their implementation is still a bit basic compared to the ...

Help with mod?

I've been messing around with aschar and aircontrols, and I've got some semblance of flight going on. Not all of the variables are commented, though, and after several hours, I'm having trouble getting it all to my liking. As it stands, one has nigh unlimited jump fuel. I eliminated a check for y-ve...

Re: Some help with combat?

The attacks are split into: Close, standing. Close, moving. Far, standing. Far, moving. Crouching. That's how you determine which attack you'll use. Like someone said, try turning off the hostility of the enemies, and practicing getting the attack you want to come out consistently. Then you can comp...

David is awesome.

Some friends and I were talking about how phenomenal David is as what he does, and it digressed into David-flavoured Norrisisms. I figured I'd share a few of them, and see if we could get a funny thread started. When David's compiler throws errors, he throws them back. David doesn't use an IDE. All ...
