Re: Unofficial, alpha 46 weekly build
Do you guys know who leaked it? Yes, YOU! j/k, I don't think they should concentrate on that, it will happen again but not on their servers and that's what's important. They did their share of bare minimum security so they don't have to overpay but the actual leaking/cracking fact will always happe...

Re: Minimum system spec?
I don't like control systems but still it has to be done on a very minimal basis. So people will "not" exploit your generosity and ask for a refund even though they played to their hearts content. Of course piracy is a common thing which I'm even part of but even a very stupid control syst...

Re: Fastest and best looking realtime fur..IMO.
Oke I just installed some old Ati driver (7.11) and it works now. I recorded it with fraps which brought down the fps more than half. The main problem with shell fur is obviously the count since it multiplies the amount of polygons of the model by the shell amounts. Obviously some distance based she...

Fastest and best looking realtime fur..IMO.
http://cgi3.tky.3web.ne.jp/~tkano/ That's an old demo of a realtime fur implementation. I came across it some years ago when I was doing research in fur shaders. It is still to this date the best RT fur implementation I've seen and it runs even on a gf3 ti (obviously the amounts of shells matters) a...

Re: Fast SSAO+SSGI(global illumination) trick.
@THeFooJoo: this particular implementation doesn't have the same artifacts associated with usual SSAO. And in spirit of the latest post I think this is an even bigger reason to go for this SSAO method. Since overgrowth will have buildings made of smaller pieces there's no way you can precalculate AO...

Fast SSAO+SSGI(global illumination) trick.
The following thread goes on explaining how to speed up SSAO and provides a trick on how to also handle SS global illumination in a single shader. http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=517130&PageSize=25&WhichPage=1 And below is a more elaborate and more technical implem...

A more technical section?
I was wondering whether a more technical section would be handy in the SPF one. That is to discuss or suggest specific technical things for overgrowth. Like talking about the lighting system or with the recent update the sky and terrain haze. Since I have a few technical questions or suggestions but...

Re: Q1 2009 -> Q2 2009
To be honest anyone who was a bit realistic here wasn't expecting that date. As long as you keep pumping out those alphas your core fans will stick to you and it won't even matter anymore how much more it's delayed. As the fans know exactly why and can see the reason for themselves. The only people ...

Re: What mod would you make?
Maybe the ability of making mods standalone would attract more people to play it and in turn maybe buy OG.

Re: The Bugs Thread
I run overgrowth and get the following error: "OpenGL error On line 296 of textures.cpp: invalid enumerant" Windows XP, PC, CPU 2.8GHz(Single core), 1GB of RAM, RADEAON 9600 GRAPHICS card. It is possible I just need to install openGL... but I wanted to tell you about this error anyway. I ...

Haha, I'm so used to that as the Lugaru theme it's weird hearing it on ati's site.

I WILL play Lugaru 2, no matter what! Seconded. @Kalexon: Yea, we Lugaru-addicts need a new dose. By the time L2 comes out, we'll be playing L1 with one hand and the screen upside down. SHAME ON YOU...by that time you should be able to finish, without dieing once, within the time span...
