Re: Lugaru in the Ubuntu software centre

Yes, I'm aware of the GPL nature of the code. It's the assets that worry me.

Lugaru in the Ubuntu software centre

I imagine this may have been brought up at some point, but I could find it anywhere, so here goes. I was browsing through the Ubuntu software cent(re/er), and I saw Lugaru was available for download at no charge. Now, I remember something similar happening with (I think?) the Mac app store, where th...

I can agree with that. I think it would be fairly simple (compared to other things, anyway) to alter the normals according to the cut, to make it look like there is depth to it.

Re: Overgrowth linux alpha status

I guess we'll see. Frankly, the quality of the Linux ports for the HIB was... less than stellar. :| Maybe he'll be more focused if he only has one thing to work on, rather than a whole bundle.

Re: Lugaru HD Linux

Just a guess, but if you're trying to modify a file and it won't let you save any changes, then you're probably in the wrong directory. It's a little inconvenient to edit files outside of your home directory because of permissions, which is actually a good thing in many ways because it preserves the...

Re: Animal ideas for overgrowth

Hmm... it would be a little weird bringing in a cassowary, as all the animals so far are North American and European, and I'm not aware of the cassowary even being able to be tamed, so I doubt it would tolerate being used as a mount. However, there are ostrich, rhea, and emu farms in the US and Euro...

Re: long range weapons

I love the idea of being able to pick up stones, bricks, furniture, etc., and using them as both melee and thrown weapons. I fully expect knives and daggers to be thrown, along with perhaps spears and small axes. I can't very well imagine bows in this game, except as a mod. One good excuse for manki...

Re: E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy

A bit touchy because a game looks just like every other generic FPS to come out in the past several years? Damn, I didn't hit a nerve, did I? :P "What appears to be a space marine" -- Whether or not the protagonist is or isn't, he shares their style. If it looks like a duck and moves like a duck, cl...

So I see what appears to be a space marine with a carbine/SMG, fighting Nazi analogues in a gritty gray and brown cover-based iron-sight shooter.

Astonishing. :|

Re: Character customization.

If you're good at sculpting, you can add detail to it and use the baked AO map as a starting point for your texture, especially if you have a good fur sculpting brush.

Re: Overgrowth Multiplayer discussion

I really enjoyed Warcraft 3 despite having never played it online. The campaign(s) were great, and that made it well worth the price. There are some games that are only worth it to play online (e.g. I never play MegaGlest unless it's with other people) but that just means that their single player ex...
