Re: Bow, Arrow, and Quiver Mod or Feature Idea

That, surprisingly, sounds almost like it could work. There'd still be no aiming system, which is the most important thing for really implementing bows from a gameplay side. An automatically hitting throwing weapon with long range would be problematic in the current system, and IIRC you can't throw...

Bow, Arrow, and Quiver Mod or Feature Idea

I've been hearing a lot of the community wishing that bows and arrows could be implemented into Overgrowth. I was thinking about how this could be done without totally reworking many of the features of the game. Here's some of my thoughts. The idea for a bow and arrow isn't so far-fetched. Because o...

Re: Animations

I personally find that each of the animations looks really good on their own, but odd things sometimes happen in gameplay. Sometimes things get awkward with colliding body parts and magical "force kicks" when many animations are occurring at once, but these are mostly only noticeable durin...

Re: A problem with the pointy things

I'm not quite sure if you know about this, so for the record, it is possible to avoid sword attacks by tapping a direction just as the swing happens. Your character will jump back, or sidestep out of the way. This makes armed-unarmed combat more balanced. Although it is clear that having a sword is ...

Re: Scriptible Path Nodes

This seems like something really great that would make a great feature of the game. I hope it's implemented in the future. :)

Re: Is there still a way to throw weapons whenever you want?

I somewhat agree. I love the way the combat works right now, and how you only attack when your character sees the opportunity to, but sometimes I just wish I could swing or throw my sword, or do a flashy kick without an opponent being there.

Re: Calculate ambient occlusion crash

Make sure that the game has actually crashed, and is not still computing the information. If you are running Windows, two windows open when you launch the game. The other window (the console) will show the progress it is making while calculating ambient occlusion. This process can take a long time ...

Re: Quote me on this ok

As was stated before, I don't feel as if Overgrowth really appeals to every demographic the way Minecraft does. The way minecraft had no specific goal in mind and you were free to create your own adventure was its greatest feature, and something that I feel would be very difficult for any game, incl...

Re: Fluids

Adding water to the game has previously been thoroughly discussed.
Among the popular suggestions include swimming and fighting aspects while in water.

Re: Character creator.

Speking of clothes, it would be cool if the were damaged by slashes and fire. what would be cool is if armor and weapons were given classes(daggers, light, stealthy, green, camo, etc.), and ratings (25 sharp deflect, 30 stabbing, 99 blunt resistance) and the level creator could limit your weapon an...

Re: Concerning the Preorder Price of Overgrowth

Put into that perspective, I totally agree. I just wish my darn friends would hurry up and buy this game.
They seem totally willing to pump 70 bucks into an overhyped game to buy it on the day of release. :|

Concerning the Preorder Price of Overgrowth

While I think the $30 I spent to play the Alpha builds and get secret forum access was well worth it, I think the price tag may be a bit high. My main reason for saying this is that I've been showing the game off to friends who react with enthusiasm at the great mechanics and excitedly ask me how mu...

Re: Character creator.

Wow, yeah, I never really thought about it, but character creation seems really neat.
It would probably be a big chunk of code to do as currently characters are not loaded into the game in such a dynamic way as to use different clothing options, etc.
