Re: Phoenix engine switch to Unreal Engine 4
Seems like a good decision... but this late? Can they really port the entire game? Yeah, 5 years after development, is it? I highly doubt that they're starting from scratch. If I'm not mistaken, a lot of the code is portable to UE4. Don't they both use the same language? And David said that both en...

Re: OGW Q&A with David Rosen
When you started working on a sequel for Lugaru, you couldn't find any engine that was available and suited your needs, so you made your own engine, Phoenix. Eventually, when you finish Overgrowth, will you consider other engines like Unreal, or Unity? As they are now available as a viable choice. O...

Probably when it'll happen, it'll be huge.
But then again: will it happen?

Re: What's Next For The Phoenix Engine?
I think his desire to create a shooter game finally materialized in the form of Receiver
It's kinda obvious he wanted a little break from ninja bunnies and work on a shooter (AWOL and Receiver).
He has a lot of great ideas and innovations in shooter games.

Re: they need to put over growth on next gen console
Steam Machine support could be possible, but it's not certain. Android is also "based on" Linux, but obviously it can't play Linux games - we don't know what Valve means by Linux-based gaming. It might mean all games for desktop Linux machines work on Steam OS... or not. It wouldn't make ...

Re: What's Next For The Phoenix Engine?
Gee I wonder, he did at one point show us a game he had planned, (He even had assets at hand already). That one of some sort of third person shooter, like a tribute to some old arcade game. I really hope he makes it opensource with all of those fancy features we have at our disposal in the OG edito...

What's Next For The Phoenix Engine?
I was wondering what does Wolfire have in mind for Phoenix after finishing Overgrowth (If they ever make a sequel)? I remember reading that he plans on ditching the engine if he ever finished Overgrowth. Will he continue work and improvement on the Phoenix Engine after finishing OG or will he write ...

Re: they need to put over growth on next gen console
What about the Steam Machine. I'm not really familiar with the details but I think it uses SteamOS which is based on Linux. Also I don't know this, but I'm guessing that any game that works on Linux will work on SteamOS(Someone correct me if I'm wrong). Just like OUYA (Games that work on Android wor...

Re: Weird Animation Bug.
V is still the scream button. I remember B as the bow button but it's kinda weird that it plays that animation. And the Fn + Left Arrow does the same thing :SEndoperez wrote:'B' button has been a test button for a long time. Sometimes it's been a bow. 'V' button used to be a scream, dunno if it still is.

Weird Animation Bug.
I found a strange animation bug that occurs when pressing B or Fn + Left/Right Arrow . The player plays a "getting kicked" animation when pressed those buttons. I tried this on two different computers and video cards (Both Windows 7 and 8 ) and they both had this problem so I'm guessing it...

Re: What kind of voice acting would you like in Overgrowth?
I personally think that each race must have his own way of communications. For example: Wolves can only communicate through growls, howls or snarls, they cannot talk at all. Rabbits should talk but in moderation, they shouldn't be shakespeareans, always talking fluently like humans, they should be t...

Re: OUYA Discussion.
Making a separate Unity prototype of some arena metagame ideas to try separating gameplay and technical R&D. from twitter. Thanks. I'm outsourcing my knowledge! :D Any way, since the actual gameplay is separate from it, there isn't any game in that prototype, and so nothing to port to OUYA. Hmm...

Re: OUYA Discussion.
This is the official forum. Someone here will know about that if it's real, but personally I believe that's just a rumour. I mean, think about this - he's spent several years making Overgrowth. The combat system works. The arena system works. Why would he create the arena metagame in Unity, instead...
