Re: Bug reporting station

I have a similar appearance in many user-created levels. I hadn't tried the clear cache routine; I'll give that a whirl.

Also Mac, OS 10.8

Re: Bug reporting station

Floating Monks.

I've been messing around a lot on the challenge levels with blocks to jump down from. Every now and then one of more of the AI will get into a strange animation where they are in a kneeling pose, sliding downhill. Sometimes they do this several feet in the air! Very Zen.

Re: What do you want to be implemented in the next build?

A tweak to the "sentry" attack --

Choke hold should count as "stun" the same way a blow does. More satisfying to do a Batman finish; hold the sentry until he starts to black out, then drop him with a knee.

Man, does talking about this make you sound a little sociopathic or what!

Re: How good of a Gladiator Are you?

That's the best part about fighting multiples...stay loose, use jumps and rolls to keep them from clumping up on you, but as long as you keep up the tempo of throwing hits at them whenever you have a gap the crowd is going to go wild. Even when you lose, you'll have a good name with the punters. And...

Re: Unofficial Overgrowth a198 build

On a MacBook, two-finger click defaults as right click. That will work for mantling walls. Kind of a pain to use for blocking, though...I've been tending to steer with forefinger, block with forefinger and ring finger, and attack with thumb!

Re: Unofficial Overgrowth a198 build

Heh...I'm remembering Escape Velocity (another great shareware game). As of Overide, you could give your escort ships basic orders, and as of Nova each group has a unique set of acknowledgments. Which, in Lugaru-speak, would be a bit like: TURNER: "Follow me to safety!" VILLAGERS: "Eh...

Re: Bug reporting station

I'm getting a glitch in 198 in gladiator mode. Haven't been able to narrow it down, but the game stops for a moment seemingly just before loading an animation I haven't used in a while -- such as if I switch to mostly-blocking, the next block I try to throw, the game will lag on me for a moment. Was...

Re: Unofficial Overgrowth a198 build

The "give random weapon to the player" is just a boolean now -- not even commented out. I didn't look long enough to figure out how you'd give weapons to the opponents, other than the easy way...dropping them on the ground and letting them snatch them up!

Re: Overgrowth Feature ideas

Tougher would be cover. Since grass is a detail object, the AI might be able to check if Turner is crouching in a short list of appropriate detail objects -- meaning if he is on bare sand or snow he is easier to spot, amidst tall grass, harder. After that, you'd have to be querying the lighting mode...

Re: Overgrowth Feature ideas

I know there's a lot of tweaking going on in the animation, and I'm pretty sure at least one of these is on David's hit list already. But there's a couple things that bug me in the Alpha. First is flickering. I hate that in all games where it shows up, and in Overgrowth it just takes me right out of...

Re: What level did you reach in gladiator?

7, but only for a moment. I'm getting an LD50 in the 4's right now.

At the moment, the only technique that works for me is basically Jackie Chan; keep moving, keep throwing punches, no pause for air.

NZ? I do know a family out there -- old family friends, didn't _quite_ grow up with the kids. Actually, some of them are still in this area.

Stupid trick for a rainy day....playing "meteor!" Realized that dead bodies twitch a little if you stab them, so rolled power up until they left ground. Somewhere around "power 300" they go into orbit. But lower then that I could set them on fire then wait for them to come plungi...

I'll have to try more tackles. I amuse myself on that level by disarming them one by one, taking their swords, and stacking them all on top of the far cube (the one they seem to have trouble jumping on to). You have to be fairly fast but a sweep then a rolling disarm works pretty well. A reversal di...
