Re: Humble THQ bundle

The past indie bundles raked in millions of dollars with substantial amounts pooling from the mac/linux operating systems, so obviously it's going to continue. But as David said, you can't port these AAA titles, there's simply too much middle ware that they don't have the source code for.

Re: Humble THQ bundle

Judging by the comments on reddit , the general consensus is that people are really happy to get all these AAA games for 5 dollars and are actually really upset about news sites that are bashing the bundle just for not being indie. I'm really glad that David, Jeff, and John posted their reasoning fo...

Re: Why not battles ? ^^

I always liked Jackie Chan's method of fighting. When fighting a lot of people at once, he never does 360 kicks and hits all five guys in front of him at once, he just kicks faster and blocks harder.

Re: Fight System Second Draft

What do you mean by making the break move context sensitive? I loved Sword of The Samurai, that game is sick. I wish it got a remake because it has so much depth to it, but the one on one duels were my least favorite activities. For me, no where near as fun as the duels in Sid Meier's Pirates! The d...

Re: Fight System Second Draft

Yes - and if they weren't showing off techniques you'd see a different result. Striking and purposely getting round a guard are different levels of skill, in much the same way blocking and countering are. I don't see any reason we shouldn't have both. I'm sorry if I'm missing the point, but it soun...

Re: Fight System Second Draft

I suppose my point is that in each of the longsword examples, the strike is made by a second or third motion AFTER the block. Putting your weapon in the way isn't difficult. But if your opponent knows what they're doing, of course they're still going to take off your head. Also those examples are t...

Re: Fight System Second Draft

Blocking isn't that difficult. Infact, if you're facing off against a single opponent and aren't distracted its fairly easy because you have to move your weapon less than your opponent (who has to telegraph his move in most cases, giving you time to react). The biggest killer against blocking is th...

Re: Fight System Second Draft

When weapons are equipped, I think having block as a toggle is a bad idea and would slow the game up. Like in Assassin's Creed you could just hold block and be invincible to all attacks but then enemies would eventually start using defense breakers that you couldn't counter and then what's the point...

Re: this is what i would like to see in OverGrowth

Turner uncovered that question from the alpha wolf, and his response was, I choose my people over yours, because anything else would be stupid. Some players might care about killing wolves (like feeling bad about killing baby wolves), but I don't think any rabbit, including Turner, should feel any s...

Re:

A good way to do it: One 'draw/holster' button. One 'switch weapon' button. - When barehanded, press 'draw/holster' to equip your primary weapon. - When barehanded, press 'switch weapon' to equip your secondary weapon. - When armed, press 'switch weapon' to switch weapons (duh). - When armed, press...

Re: Suggestion on how to still make money from piracy

Yep, if Lugau was crazily pirated and not a single person donated. There goes your whole pirates-have-a-legitimate-role-in-sales idea. The fact is that pirates don't donate for something they already have, I can see why they should, but they didn't. So why try to make them feel included with a donat...

Re: Inventory System In OG

What about a ranged attack button, that automatically takes sheathed ranged weapons from your belt when necessary? No need to switch weapons before throwing.[/quote] I like this idea. Although it's possible for Turner to be able to carry a sword on his belt, a warhammer on his back, a staff running ...

Re: The Trouble with Randomised Loot Drops

Nice picture o_o I don't think that powerful weapons should be in random drops. All randomized stuff should be common items at least. That way in order to get the really good stuff you have to do something amazing not do the same thing 5 million times until you get something good. I agree with squi...

Re: Why Games need to be Fun (now with more breasts)

I have to agree, Chris Crawford is pretty cool and has a lot of nice ideas, but in my opinion, he is just not a good game developer, and he is crazy if he believes people will enjoy video games with no enjoyable game play but have a nice story or whatever like the Schindler's List (the example he us...

Re: Future Overgrowth

Ah, yes, of course. *facepalm* I'm not really with it today... But it would work if holding the spacebar down for a longer time make him crouch anyways for a crouch-jump, then if you decided not to just hold crouch and he'll just stay crouched instead of jumping when you let go of spacebar. I don't...
