I think the turrets not always pointing down when they die is intentional and not a bug. Meant to make you think twice about stepping in front of that turret that you shot. Is it really disabled, or just playing opossum? I kinda like them actually.

Actually it is an M1911, a Colt M1911 A1. It's an M1911 with a modified classification number, and some minor mechanical tweaks, but it's still an M1911.

Also stepping out and back around the corner is more or less completely safe as it is now. The mirror wouldn't offer you a safer way to do this, just a less hurky jerky one in my opinion. I want a mod/update that always holsters the gun to slot 0 ( the one on the far right) as it stands now the gun holsters back and forth between 2 slots, in a a seemingly random fashion. Not a big deal for the gun itself as it always draws with the ~ key, but it does throw off the rest of my inventor...

My idea wasn't for you to be completely invincible while using the mirror, just less likely to get hit/detected because of the smaller hit box. Leaning and being able to aim would be too easy. At least with the mirror you'd still have to fully expose yourself to shoot. All you get with the mirror is...

I feel like there needs to be a more intelligent way to check corners, rather than just stepping out then back in.
