Re: Overgrowth Lore

That's actually a very good point. Note, that while my language was somewhat ambiguous, what I meant by "necessarily ruling society" was that Wolfire has never explicitly stated that cats always have to rule over a society of lesser creatures.

Re: Do we need moderators?

In my defense (I double bumped the thread) I didn't realize that it was an old thread which had been bumped. That being said, flamers and trolls can be countered by a community which is organized enough to simply marginalize and ignore them. That also being said, it's a whole lot easier on everybody...

Re: Overgrowth Lore

My point behind the "chimp comment" was that there are more evolutionarily primitive "humans" alive today (I understand that a biologist would cringe at that statement, but the generalization works for my purposes), and there's nothing weird about it. I would also like to point o...

Re: Overgrowth Lore

Is a chimp a retarded human, or a separate species?

Re: Overgrowth Lore

First, I don't necessarily see why the existence of a sentient "dog race" excludes the existence of a non-sentient dog. Indeed, if the world is mostly or completely naturalistic, it might make more sense for there to be non-sentient dogs as well as sentient ones. I assumed cats were the we...

Re: Overgrowth Lore

The background of the setting may be explained with a mythology, rather than in a naturalistic way. Thus, a question to the effect of "Why do dogs exist in OG where humans are absent, and hence the selective pressures which created them in the first place are not present?" could be easily ...

Re: Class based multiplayer mod concept/standard MP concept

Such as the famous phalanx formation? In which multiple men equipped properly could decimate enemies, makes sense ;p. Not a bad concept at all. More or less. I predicate my design on the assumption that there will be about 16 players per game at a high point, so it probably wouldn't reflect a true ...

Re: Class based multiplayer mod concept/standard MP concept

I am not going to comment on the concept because I am neutral on this subject. But I have to disagree with a group of dogs beating a pack of wolves, because even though wolves are savage, they really care for their kin in real life (This kind of real life behaviour would really look good in the gam...

Re: Class based multiplayer mod concept/standard MP concept

I actually wasn't referring to magic; healing and religion are often intertwined in ancient culture. The healing process would not be magical.

That's an understandable ambiguity, though.

Re: Class based multiplayer mod concept/standard MP concept

I can not say much since I have not read everything about the animals strength and weakness. Though I thought the rat was like a spy with the back stab making it kinda weak, like in TF2. Thought the rabbit was the balanced one out of all the animals. Correct me if I am wrong since its like I am hal...

Class based multiplayer mod concept/standard MP concept

Hi folks, I'm new here, although like quite a few people, I've been following OG for quite a while now. I bought it because the bundle promo was simply too good to pass up. However, I admit that, were it not for the promo, I would have waited until OG's multiplayer was more fleshed out before I made...
