Re: How animation are made ?

They are hand-made, but use procedural and physics-based modifiers such as inverse kinematics and floppy ears.

Re: Dynamic Music

Overgrowth will at least support fading between different tracks and other such features, but I don't know if we'll have any really fancy dynamic music tech. However if you want to experiment with sound and music without coding then you could do worse than FMOD designer.

Re: Humble Indie Bundle #2

I'm pretty sure all the top contributors are legit, and the advertisers just figured that $1000 for a spot on the contributors list was a good deal considering how many impressions it gets.

It sounds like body7 is correct -- one of the morph targets is for when a character's head explodes :)

Re: Black Shades Infinite City

The city generation in Black Shades was actually very simple: it's just a very large grid of equally sized block models. There are several different kinds of block models which are chosen (pseudo)randomly, and also rotated randomly using 90-degree intervals.

Re: "Could Not Set Display Mode"?

Laptops tend to have strange aspect ratios, so maybe they just can't handle the default resolution. You could try changing the config.txt file to match your native resolution.

Re: Menu is just grey with white boxes

That happens when the game can't find its texture files in the Data folder. I'm not sure exactly how paths and working directories function on Linux, but that should help narrow it down!

I think Blizzard would beg to differ -- World of Warcraft is very profitable.

Re: Fan Art

Oops, that is a bug in cubemapalpha then. In the next alpha, it will also use spec from the normal alpha map. If you care to fix it before then, open cubemapalpha.frag and change line 45 from "color = diffuse_color * colormap.xyz + spec_color * colormap.a;" to "color = diffuse_color * colormap.xyz +...

Re: Colour correction in Overgrowth?

We can do color correction as a post-processing effect, but I would rather just get the colors right in the textures to begin with! Post-processing effects usually result in decreased color precision and fidelity.

Re: Horizon haze technique

To make sure that the horizon band doesn't intersect the terrain, I just turn off depth testing! With depth testing disabled, nothing can get cut off by anything else -- it just layers on top.

Re: KraKK Productions

It would probably be best to spend your time learning to code first, before worrying about what tools to use. A fancy paintbrush is not very useful if you don't know how to paint!
