The fighting system in Overgrowth is based largely on precise timing. Even a little bit of lag would be deadly. Are you playing on the lowest difficulty? Supposedly the biggest difference between the difficulty settings is the speed of the game -- you need better reflexes to fight at the higher speeds so it's more difficult.
The world needs no more MMOs. Most are huge wastes of money because people realize that they already invest 40-some-odd hours per week on WoW or Guild Wars and really don't need to pick up another addiction.
Regarding voices, they can be pitch-shifted in the character config files, so that could be a little audio clue even without dialogue. Maybe gender just doesn't play as big of a role in these animal cultures? If your males are roughly as big and strong as the males, then why wouldn't they do a lot o...

For the most part, you can't really tell the difference between a male and female of most animal species unless you're examining their genitals, so it's entirely possible that half of the rabbits and wolves in Lugaru were female too.
