Re: Receiver Stories - share them here
One time, early on in my Receiver training, I was trying to figure out the slide and reload stuff and ended out emptying my clip on the floor several times. Then I realized my brother was watching the whole time. Way to make me feel stupid. But it's all worth it for that incredibly epic feeling you ...

Re: Receiver Stories - share them here
I agree. It's easy to ragequit sometimes. But I keep going back. I shot a turret in the motor, through the one doorframe I could get through. It was pointing right at me. No way out. Another time I found a room full of 4 hoverers in my way; I somehow managed to shoot them all down while keeping my h...

Re: Receiver: Wow. I love it!
I had a younger brother once...
He beat Receiver, then suddenly disappeared in a flash of white light. We've never seen him since.

Re: Not putting GB of data in My Docs folder
I usually have the same issue with many programs which don't comprehend the possibility that one of their users has limited primary drive space. That's why I'm glad they used My Documents: it can be moved. I'm in XP, to change the location of My Documents, you right click on it, properties, and chan...

Threading for multi-core processors (if this is even within reason - i've got no idea)

Re: Receiver Fan-made Promo Videos - requires volunteers
My main problem right now is that there don't seem to be any material files associated with, say, the stationary_turret_fixed.fbx I might just not be finding it, but even if I did i wouldn't know how to bring it into blender. It'd be nice if there was one place where stuff like this was explained. I...

Re: Receiver Fan-made Promo Videos - requires volunteers
I wish someone would share the knowledge in a Receiver modding thread. I've managed to import some meshes into blender without textures but that's it.

Re: Receiver Fan-made Promo Videos - requires volunteers
Hmm, really? I read the first half of that and started thinking of how we could make it look like that happened, but then read the second half.
Also, it's possible to do some stuff with the game files in blender, If we wanted something different from just gameplay.

Re: Receiver Fan-made Promo Videos - requires volunteers
We've got videos to record (plenty of starter characters) and a few scripted videos already. Also, I've been thinking that the storytelling would be less redundant from video to video if we started off the story/recording after the character's been in the universe for a bit. It would skip the initia...

Re: Receiver Fan-made Promo Videos - requires volunteers
Thanks for the interest! For starters, generate a few character sheets, they're pretty quick and easy to do, and we need plenty to choose from. I've made 4 already. I've found that ZDsoft is both free and works perfectly for recording this stuff (taksi is buggy and won't do sound, and fraps is limit...

Re: Ideas for final OG
These ideas look like good additions if they have the time, a balance animation would be important to me, Overgrowth is surpassing older games in so many ways I'd hate to see floating legs (your screenshot) in the final game. It was the one thing that bothered me in all the time I spent simply jumpi...

Receiver Fan-made Promo Videos - requires volunteers
First, I'll answer the question on everyone's mind. " Do I count as a volunteer ?" We will need people that: 1.) can play Receiver on a relatively fast computer, and record their games. 2.) have some writing skills, and plenty of imagination 3.) can do some amateur voice acting and at leas...

Re: SCARY GAMES!!!
I can't stand the fact that there is no "perfect dark" anymore in that game. The lowest brightness setting now lets you see, dimly, everything. It used to be caves were completely black till you did something about it. Sure, Notch added a brightness setting so some users could change it, b...
