Oh, I assumed you used Windows since you asked for a compiler :P Use xCode if you really want a GUI, but for just compiling stuff quick, using gcc from the terminal is better. gcc is only better if you don't have to link against the NUMEROUS frameworks that game engines always seem to have and/or r...

Also, Kalexon: allow me to suggest a very lightweight game engine, such as Isotope . For a beginning developer, such an engine has numerous advantages. First, the language is Python, which is FAR easier to actually learn and do stuff with than C++. Secondly, it seems (admittedly, I haven't actually ...

Yah, the GPWiki has some great stuff. Alas, for beginning game devopers, it seems there is no one definitive source for all the answers you need. Unless, of course, you count GoogleCrill3 wrote:GreenAlge, thanks for the link.
gpwiki.com looks like a good resource.

Thanks, I decided to go with an engine called Crystal Space, now for the next question! I need a compiler for C++ because what I download is the source code. Crystal Space seems to be a good choice. There's a group curretnly working on a free MMORPG, PlaneShift using it. As for a compiler, I'd need...

I would just like to point out that there is *no* way this is going to be the final Mac vs. Window discussion/debate/bloodbath ;) That said, I vote Mac because Windows drives me up the wall. _Nik Edit: Oh, and Cocoa. That kicks ass. Edit 2: And would people please stop using animated GIF profile pic...

Okay guys, I have looked through the whole thread and here's my opinion: I for one think Oval's suggestion was a bit sick, this is not suppose to be a game about bunny's having sex, it's about A) Turner, a dude who has just lost everything B) Turner Avenging his family C) Turner trying to figure ou...

Actually, I think myst:revelation needs that kind of power. So really, if you can run that, this should work. I have a myst rev box sitting right next to me...uhhh, it says that the minimum vram reqs are 32MB and the recommended is 64MB. (both Mac and PC) Are you thinking of the new myst game? (mys...
