Cloudscape sounds like something you could do with the Phoenix engine once Overgrowth is released. I bet it'd work well too! I bet the Dark Platformer would excel in the 2.5D format you are trying to describe (as I believe I have something similar in my head) and would be great if it had Noir-ish to...

Epic in the sense that, if you're the evil guys, you always win, and so I found Warhammer pointless.

Not the best game I've ever played, but it has held my attention for a few hours at least.
Definitely does not have the recognition it deserves.

Granted, this Universe, that for the most part deserves to be destroyed, is immediately brought back into reality, and now we all continue living our crummy lives, in which we are minuscule, and hope to have something to live for.
Well, maybe Overgrowth.
