Re: A more humane approach.

I would say that having confidence and aggression be random is a poor design choice. Making things random is actually one of my most hated things in games. There is a time for it, but core gameplay features isn't it. It's like, let's say you are playing a game in which your goal is to walk through ...

Re: virus problem

Go to your anti virus, set overgrowth.exe as not a threat or "do not alert for this file" or "Unblock the file"

If the virus is removing it, get norton.

Re: A more humane approach.

I guess in Lugaru what happened was the logic tested for people to run to for help, and if that got zero, then it lapsed back to fighting. In abstract coding, there could be an aggression variable as well as a confidence variable, both with random variances with each AI. Confidence could be factore...

Re: A more humane approach.

This is quite an interesting idea, certainly in having the AI act more naturally. I'd like to see this happening. On a similar topic: having a sort of 'memory' system for the AI could also help in making it more... less AI-like. Having an enemy think that they've got reinforcements when you've alre...

Re: A more humane approach.

It's also possible that each race could react differently somehow. Definitely they could! Imagine being a guard. You see a fellow guard dead before you. Wont you have a trauma? Wont you be like OMG OMG OMG? Wont you get scared, and if you see the enemy, you emotionally break out and start hitting m...
