I think Lugaru style dialogue would be fine. If updated, refined and improved as much as every other aspect of the game is, anyway. And if it worked. OK, so not so much Lugaru style, but still cutscenes scripted in-engine. Pretty as the game will look, there should be no need for actual pre-rendered...
