Try playing with the general layout. I bet having something to jump and fight on would make the fights a bit more dynamic.
I'd also suggest some decals on the ground, but don't go overboard.

Wow, just noticed this.
When you press X to get rid of any slices/wounds on a character, it turns gray and slowly fades away.
Not as easy to tell in the .gif, but easier to see in-game.

When selecting something in the Editor, it now displays its filename & filepath on the left side of the screen in Debug text.
This is in a226.RC, but I can't remember if it was implemented in a225.
