Re: OGW Q&A with the developers

Dear Max and Lukas, For the mod support, you have mentioned a new xml file to describe the mod, with author information, game name, version number, files to overload, etc. This makes the engine relatively data-driven, meaning that the program will not have its control flow hard-coded, but instead de...

Re: OGW Q&A with the developers

Will you consider using buildbot? You can setup a buildbot server on a simple computer, even a raspberry pie, and have it run at all times, it creates neat logs and is easy to initiate a build if you use make. You will need to set up buildslaves on each platform you wish to support, have a computer...

Re: OGW Q&A with the developers

will you work more on the Asset Conditioning Pipeline, to make it more of a thrill for Content Creators to get their assets included into the game? Would you like to expand on this question? Sure, sorry I didn't notice this earlier :) In the book Game Engine Gems, Volume 1, the second chapter is Th...

Writing small descriptions of Overgrowth

Hi, Could we write small "narratives", or descriptions of what Overgrowth will be like, as we imagine it, in this thread? I can start. Here I stand, overseeing the dog city of Mountain's Peak, alone. The dogs have already started their daily routines, leaving their city to look for food, i...

Re: Overgrowth's story

The Seven Basic Plots has been mentioned before in a blog comment. For writing a narrative for a game, two books are recommended; Story and The Seven Basic Plots. Story essentially says a screenplay is all about changes. In the beginning of a scene, circumstances MUST change before the end of the sc...

Re: OGW Q&A with the developers

David,

What resources do you use to learn OpenGL core profile?

Also, will you work more on the Asset Conditioning Pipeline, to make it more of a thrill for Content Creators to get their assets included into the game?

Much love,

Re: OGW Q&A with David Rosen & Aubrey Serr

Dear David and Aubrey, Have you guys played Tomb Raider (2013)? Games nowadays are becoming less and less narrative driven and players, to a larger degree, invent their own narratives to make sense of the game. Maybe you guys could make a survival part inside the game, and make it so each mission is...

Re: OGW Q&A with David Rosen & Aubrey Serr

Hi David and Aubrey, Thanks for Overgrowth and all the articles about game development.

Will you make a Pheonix Filmmaker, ala Source Filmmaker? People could make really fun narratives with it, maybe even for the story in the game.
