Re: Doubts about School Course
What do you mean by easy math and physics. Depending on what you want to do, good knowledge in math and physics may be required of you. Do you know anything more about the course descriptions and what YOU want to do with programming?

Re: How to use key?
I assume you have gotten your email with a link like this? (It is the only way to get your key) -http://www.wolfire.com/spf/*********** Follow the directions on that page to access all currently available content. Specifically Read Steps 1 and 2 to access the alpha. The key itself is currently not u...

Re: The Broadside Express - Continued
One thing is I think the OnCollisionEnter/Stay/Exit is called separately for each collider colliding with the object. Your example sets the on_ground for whatever the last contact point for whatever OnCollisionStay collider is called last. I think something like this is more suitable. class sampleCl...

Re: The Broadside Express - Continued
You should look at the Collision object you get on a OnCollisionEnter callback.

Re: The Broadside Express - Continued
Ugh, I downloaded the project, looked at some files, then I remembered that the free version of unity is not friendly with version control systems. Actually the latest version (3.5) supports external version control with the free license. I've been using it for a couple projects and it works quite ...

Re: Story idea
That's a very cool idea with the monoliths, and it is nicely written cheers to that. The thing that excites me most about these monoliths now is that they fit in with my idea. The humans could have made self-repairing material, and the heights that they go to also fit, since humans are currently bu...

Re: Story idea
This is something small I just put together from what I understand of the crete monoliths. Along with references to the blog maybe you can find some interesting things in it. (In all honesty the history of the world is interesting flavor to add to the environment, however I think the story of Overgr...

Re: Pre-Ordered before Registered
You don't need an account to get a 'spf' link. That is sent directly to your email. You sure you didn't get a URL in your emails? When you say you got a registration e-mail from wolfire which email are you talking about forum or purchase confirmation? One other thought is that you made a typo with y...

Re: Why all the pirate hate?
Uhm... As a counterpoint to your entire post and your entire justification. Why the hell are you 'demoing' an alpha? Get the demo when it comes you idiot. There's a fault in your logic. There's no demo now. The game can be bought (pre-ordered) now. He can't buy the game now based on information he ...

Re: Why all the pirate hate?
Ok, so I downloaded Wolfire version 152 off piratebay. As a PC gamer without a lot of money, I always try a game before buying. This often means pirating it, since demos are rare. And If I want to keep the game i will buy it, especially when it's indie games. But since it won't work and the answers...

Re: Forum display question
I don't know why you would want to read text that spans across the entire screen. Keeping text together makes it easier to read. Instead of using your widescreen monitor to increase your neck and eye strain, why don't you make your browser half screen, and stick something else, or another browser on...

Re: Physics Question (Overgrowth related not real physics)
@SamW i know what you mean about the "floaty" physics (Which actually is what made me wonder if they use this technique in game) It is especially noticeable in mount and blade. Also a article recently made me think about it again. http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/04/22/eves-anti-lag-time...

Re: Physics Question (Overgrowth related not real physics)
Bigger time steps between physics calculations would increase the performance of the physics. But there are issues with doing that (things 'exploding'). They ways exploding issues are resolved tend to also makes the physics a bit floaty. Even with floaty physics I see many games where the physics ex...
