Jendraz, in regards to keeping balance, how about having crucial AI (ie, important storyline characters) having infinite health? Depends on how good your computer is. I aimed at 50 FPS on my G4 laptop at the time but that was maybe overly restrictive. That's up to you to decide. I don't know about that 'back to fur3 bug' but what you can always do is convert the black fur into, say, black.png in Data/Textures and then use it...
