Re: Suggestion: visiting your house?

I'd say it depends on the story. Agreed. Shops could lead to potential balance issues however: say you blow too much cash early on and end up in an un-winnable situation :? Well, when I was thinking about shops it could as well easily be selling the weapons for free. Say you spend fictional cash an...

Re: Suggestion: visiting your house?

Advantage of having been here for ages: I can just quote previous posts :D As it happens, 58% of pre-orders voted in favour of accumulating weapons over the course of the game

Re: Epic* Overgrowth Ideas

I have to find you guys that podcast from ages ago... here we go :) While you're listening to that: you might have noticed from damn gory the game is becoming these past few updates. There's a reason for this, as you'll hear near the end. Back then David said wanted to show the impacts of violence, ...

Re: Epic* Overgrowth Ideas

Aerial Combat Aimed Jump Kicking - Doesn't really fit with the spirit Overgrowth. This sort of thing would be more for a Devil May Cry , over-the-top spectacular sort of fight, not than the raw grittiness David is aiming for. Daggers for parkour - I see you've played Two Thrones  Breakable Ph...

Re: Suggestion: Dodging

I posted a TLDR post a while back about the dangers of mapping an attack and a defensive move to the same button. I would heartily recommend moving away from this element of Lugaru's system.

Re: Capturing Opponents

Arkham City was showing off this "informant" mechanic along the same lines: you have to do your best not to break your informants while dealing with their friends. Could make for even more interesting gameplay in Overgrowth, what with all the lethal weapons being thrown around

Re: 13 months later: are there still alternatives?

I'm not making the case for designers who know nothing about programming - far from it! Recently I was in Paris entering a mobile game development competition. Our team won the competition and the check was split evenly 7 ways. Thing is, I did 100% of the programming; sat there grinding the whole 48...

Re: 13 months later: are there still alternatives?

Hmm... Lugaru balanced the soccer kick by only letting you do it once (or twice if you're quick) on each enemy. But an artificial constraint needn't be used: perhaps the player could be dissuaded from using cheap tricks by some other means? It would be interesting to perhaps introduce some kind of &...

Re: 13 months later: are there still alternatives?

Lugaru did have a few fault though. For instance, I'd like much to see better weapon combat. Speaking of which: people who've had a chance to play the alpha: how does the combat feel, compared to Lugaru?
