And from this blog post ("control your scope"-paragraph) I conclude that it is a version of Pong, where the normal game play has been altered to include special weapons like "fireballs and razorblades".

Actually, I haven't seen the first unedited version of your post, but the current one actually states a valid question. All those others (except perhaps the one asking about fournine), to me, at least, seem like useless, meaningless, moral-less spam.
To my decree, this thread is not spam for its birth included a valid question which received a valid answer. any further discussion will be taken under the wing of labels similar to "Derailment", "Further discussion", and possibly even "New material" or "Recyclementationness".

Depending on how serious this further discussion will develop, these posts may be taken as either the all-too-common Derailment, or possibly the exalted Recyclationity.

The first version of the post contained nothing, but the headline "Why?".

So, maybe Armored Wolf you did screw up. But then, why does your subject ask 'why', when you wanted to know 'what' fire pong is? You making a pointless thread and being flamed for it making up an excuse sounds more plausible to me.
Even if you wanted to make a thread about fire pong or something else entirely, screwing up and not noticing for 3 straight hours is coming dangerously close to spamming. Why? Because it shows that you didn't care enough about your own thread to look at it after you posted nor notice that the subject is wrong when returning to the forum. That shows your thread was done without thinking, just out of boredom and that is what spamming is all about, isn't it?

By the way, I didn't and won't request a ban for something petty like this and don't think others should either. But don't think that excuses like "All the others are doing it, too!" will work in any situation, that's just childish.
