I level up all my things equally so that I can use particular kits in particular situations.
Medic once you get the defrib's and the red dot sight for your LMG is really useful, especially when working as a team, because you hang back and provide cover while an Assault or Engineer takes the brunt of the attack and tries to do the damage. If your team-mates fall you just jack them back up or throw out a few medkits if they're injured.
However, if I see a tank patrolling and no one seems to be up to taking it out, I switch over to Recon and try to flank it. Lightweight Body Armor is useful for this because when planting C4 on a tank, speed and agility is all-important. So Lightweight as your first Specialisation on Recon, use buildings for cover, if you see the tank rounding a corner and shooting somewhere else this is the perfect opportunity to make your move, and two C4 on the side or back will detonate, be careful though because tanks often have infantry cover, you must be quick. I've often gotten the C4 planted successfully but then got taken out and the C4 disappears. For this reason I often sacrifice myself and detonate the 2 C4 the instant I attach them. I usually kill myself but always get at least one kill, often two, sometimes 3, and a hell of a lot of points in the process. I often rack up 400 points for one tank kill. 50 for each kill, another 50 if it's an avenger kill or savior kill, 100 for tank destruction, etc.
However, if the tank is too far away and is in a position which is difficult to flank as a Recon unit for various reasons, be it lack of cover or too much infantry support, I often opt for the engineer route and just take cover far away and bombard the tank with RPG's, aiming for the side armour if possible.
Assault is good if it's the type of game where not many people are bothering to use the vehicles. I prefer the other 3 classes, there's nothing Assault can do which other classes can't achieve with more success, especially once you unlock the AKS-74U for the engineer. It's better than any of the Assault Rifles I've unlocked as an Assault troop.
Also, I find it odd that a rocket propelled grenade will blow up walls, an assault rifle's grenade launcher will blow up walls, but a normal thrown grenade won't blow up anything but light fences. It's a bit strange. It would really help for the Medic if I had something to blow up walls with.
