I just watched Kick Ass last night, i really enjoyed it.

of course bear in mind that you can't really go into it looking for a serious film.

for entertainment, action, and comedy its pretty decent. great blood effects, great attitude, and the acting ain't to shoddy.

stagevu that shit.

Just saw Brooklyn's Finest last week. Was pretty good. Kind of like Pride And Honour but not quite as good.

Watched "From Paris with Love". Not the greatest of films, but if you want one fun evening with action, look no further.

Speaking of furry movies, I just saw District 9. Nice effects, especially the integration. I was certain they used much more props than they did. I have no idea which of the alien weapons were real and which were CGI, and same with the alien parts. The "small budget" thing was rather relative though, they were discussing things with WETA and got some stuff with them, but WETA was busy with Cameron's stuff so they ended up doing the CGI elsewhere. Small budget for Hollywood is still a staggering amount of money, it seems!

I also found a DVD of Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, and it was hilarious. Also, delicious. Quite absurdist humour, full of puns and wordplays and absurd things, and VISUAL jokes too. It almost felt like I was reading a Pratchett book, it had a similar kind of wacky genius. The characters weren't its strong point, even though they had their moments, but this movie isn't about drama - there are nice themes in there, but the humour is what makes it great.

Did you see the made-for-TV film adaptations of Hogfather and The Colour Of Magic?

I just watched "Panic in the year zero" ... it wasn't bad for a black and white film ...

They've also adapted Going Postal.

I've seen the two others, but they didn't end up being that special for me. Some of the details were good, but it didn't quite hold together.

Drag Me To Hell.

No, seriously.

I just watched it. It's really quite good. It's directed by the guy who did the Spider-Man movies (which I hated... but everyone else liked them, so take that as a recommendation).

Okay, it's not perfect. It's a bit corny, a bit cliché, it's occasionally predictable, there are a couple of rather silly scenes and some of the special effects are noticeably on the cheap side.

But forget about all that because, somehow, it all works really well. The scares basically boil down to "boo!" and "ew" but still do their job perfectly. You'll see them coming a mile away, but they'll still make you jump. Then you find yourself laughing and wondering how the hell you fell for something so simple.

So yeah, it's a ton of fun. Watch it with a friend. You won't be disappointed.

Wtf is with this shit? That was basically the characters from Alice put into a shitty movie. (With fun special effects)

it was actually a screen adaption of the book

"through the looking glass"

the title really threw people off. i liked it though. great shot, effects, and a pretty female lead.

tim burton is getting a bit repetitive though.
