Threads Of General Amusement
Got curious as to why I hadn't seen any posts, from a number of older forum members whom I found interesting, for a while now. Began doing searches on their older posts to see how recently they'd been here. The likes of BunnyWithStick, Glabbit and Tokage. Tokage in particular was a pretty intelligent forum regular, his posts were seldom but were generally weighty.
While I was rummaging through the archives, I happened upon a number of older threads which reminded me of a much simpler time when I was the resident confrontational goading-machine. Granted people weren't always amused but I find it fairly amusing and interesting to read over internet battles from times gone past. So here's a number of them which I found amusing.
1. Renegade_Turner Schools the Wolfire Forums on Semantics Not really sure why it's called this, but it was surely an internet flame war to end all internet flame wars.
2. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4849 Oh dear lord this is hilarious. Just read the fanfic if you haven't. I fully intend to renovate young Devilsclub's fanfic into as much of a coherent story as I can for teh lulz.
3. DEAR Renegade_Turner Okay, this one absolutely puzzled me when it was originally created. When I realised it was all fun and games I found it highly amusing.
If anyone else has any they found amusing, please post them as I am bored at work with not much to do. :[

I'll have to go search the threads again. But I remember some really weird threads with Chainsaw man.

Its because we ended up bickering for 5 or so pages about the definition of "god"Renegade_Turner wrote:1. Renegade_Turner Schools the Wolfire Forums on Semantics Not really sure why it's called this, but it was surely an internet flame war to end all internet flame wars.

Ahhh Chainsawman... Where did he go?! He just dorta disappeared one day... Anyway, I was reading the last thread you put up there and couldn't help but laugh, although, I did kinda lose interest not very far in. Im not going to lie to you here, the big words were actually confusing me!

Anything in general posted by Wilbefast is a work of art, but some more than others.
The "Seuss-Off" threads were, and still is, particularly entertaining.
I believe the original is what appeared in "The "John's beard" thread!", page 35, when Wilbefast went from the word "Ossum" to "Possum", que Uberbeard's response and the game was on.

During the ongoing Seuss-Off, Wilbefast was puzzled whether or not to make it a public game of the Randomness Section. jo-shadow's had a name suggestion, and about a month later, Wilbefast introduced us to;
Seuss Off #2 - The second coming

Re: Threads Of General Amusement
Good ol' times. Back in those days when we were hijacking every thread to make it into another useless but hilarious flamewar...
This thread is a fine example of that. Oh, that one made my day.

Hahaha yeah, now new people troll with answered questions and don't even know it. The department of redundancy department has grown too big.

What are you two talking about? You've clearly gone mad.
I got a great laugh out of these! Especially the one with tokage where I conceded that I'd been wrong about something in my original post, and somehow it was agreed that I had won the internet.

Oh I got a good laugh out of them too, I was just saying that nowadays I don't get as great a laugh out of the forums.

Possibly because so many flamewars aren't started these days. They were simpler times when you knew where you stood and the only objective was "flame everything". Now there's these new matters of human morality which they'd wish to force upon us that they've named compassion and tolerance. The world is an alien and oft confusing place these days.
