Favorite Movies
There have probably been a million of these threads but damned if I'm gonna bump an old one...
Right now, I'm probably gonna go with Inception and Fight Club. The twist in FC actually didn't surprise me all that much, but the ending and the end song OHMYGAWDOHMYGAWD
Anyways, yeah. Go for it.

Re: Favorite Movies
Ah. forgot about Bourne, Dark Knight, Matrix. Those could probably also make the list. Oh! And of course LotR trilogy!
Re: Favorite Movies
Shutter Island, among some of the mentioned above. Also, The Lion King. I hear they made a 3D one, but I think I missed it. Oh well.

Re: Favorite Movies
The cinema behind my house recently aired the original Jurassic Park film, so my brother and I went to see it for old times' sake. A brilliant film.
Also, Ip Man (Chinese). The Lives Of Others (German), Ringu (Japanese), The Host (South Korean), Oldboy (South Korean), Man Bites Dog (Belgian) and Rec (Spanish) are all amazing films.
ONLY IN SUBTITLES, THOUGH.

Ip Man really is one of the greatest martial arts movie in modern times.Renegade_Turner wrote:Also, Ip Man.

Ip man 2 was also good. Both were so good that I didn't realize they were in Chinese, because of there awesomeness.

Re: Favorite Movies
To say one of the greatest martial arts films in modern times sounds like you provide greater credit to older martial arts films. This may be a misinterpretation on my part, but this seems to be a popular opinion. I recently watched Enter The Dragon and was perplexed by how badly it ages. Nothing interesting at all. Bruce Lee had incredible charisma, but the fight scenes were so bland and uninteresting I may have been watching an actual martial arts tournament. Compare it to Ip Man or Ong Bak and it falls horribly behind in my book.
Re: Favorite Movies
Ah, I'm sorry, that would be a misinterpretation. I simply said it that way since I have yet to watch most the "old classic" films, so I couldn't possibly compare it to modern movies. But, from what I've seen of martial arts films of today, Ip Man is one of the greatest.Renegade_Turner wrote:To say one of the greatest martial arts films in modern times sounds like you provide greater credit to older martial arts films. That's interesting. You would think that the older films would be an inspiring point in history, but from hearing this, it appears not to.Renegade_Turner wrote:I recently watched Enter The Dragon and was perplexed by how badly it ages. Re: Favorite Movies
I wouldn't call the fighting in Enter the Dragon bland, just less stylistic. Apart from the interchangeable hands, of course. I don't know, I still like Jackie Chan's old stuff. He was just such a ninja back then he was fun to watch, even in movies with cheesy dialogues like Drunken Master. And like how his character fell 3 stories through a bunch of electric strung lights, only to have his fall broken by crashing through a wooden roof, only he did just that exactly in real life with no harnesses or anything, just to get the shot? He had huge burns on his arms, from the lights breaking while he was crashing through them.
Re: Favorite Movies
