not really.

The same companies that own media outlets like CNN etc are the same ones who are trying to push this bill.

They're not going to shed light on SOPA, they're instead trying to pass it relatively quietly.

Only fairly tech savvy people know about it from internet articles not affiliated with those media outlets.

This is why Google and/or Facebook needs to step in. Anyone who uses a computer would know that day and there would be an instant mob against it.

Right now, people against SOPA is a fairly small minority and congress are basically writing these people off as people who are pirates.

If Google steps in and publicly denounces SOPA on their page, it would kill it instantly, support against SOPA would skyrocket and congress would not be able to write off the group as just a bunch of pirates.

I doubt Google would do it. They're neutral, like Switzerland, and want to stay that way. Facebook might do it, I guess. And it seems like Twitter would participate in the blackout, but I could be wrong.
Well, we'll find out what big sites hate SOPA on Wednesday, won't we?

This isn't about being "neutral" though, it's not like this is the Dems and Reps fighting. It's a bipartisan bill against the Internet, something they helped create. They've already participated in the big letter to Lamar Smith thing. I don't think they can afford to be neutral.

Tell that to their corporate head. Who knows, they may just respond and are keeping it down low, but this is America: the land where fucktards with no common sense can become influential businessmen and politicians.

One of their corporate heads helped create the Internet, and is strongly opposed. Google is not a media corporation. They do not suffer from piracy.

Still, if they oppose SOPA do the media heads continue to support Google? There is most likely some sort of reason for them to stay out of the way. Again, I could be wrong and totally cynical. There's a good chance they will do the blackout and oppose SOPA. I hope they do, but there is also a realistic chance that they will just let it slip by. I seriously hope that some big website will protest it. Youtube won't, too much media involvement. Yahoo I doubt would. Facebook, Twitter and Google are the three that really come to mind that are mainstream enough to kill SOPA's chances of being passed.

If that article is any indication, Google is supporting the media.

Google owns youtube. They would not support SOPA simply due to this.

I bet they don't do a thing.

Google isn't a bad company, but it *is* a company. At best a company is amoral, to be honest the only reason google is against it is because it is against their companies interests. They would lose a fuckload of money.

Honestly, if this bill passes Im basically going to create a list of companies that supported the bill, post copywrighted information on their sites, and then contact the

Because lets face it, this is going to blow up the internet if it passes.

This fuckin' guy. This guy knows it.

Also, I read about Justin Bieber supporting SOPA from a Reddit article about SOPA.

At this rate he'll be assassinated before he gets crushed by a mob of small girls, which makes me think he'll be a pedophile one day. Srsly. That many young girls?
