My Facebook War

Post by Fournine » Thu Sep 07, 2006 2:45 pm

Greetings, friends -
As many of you may - or may not - know, Facebook has recently changed its format with a huge newsfeed that tells you about your friends' activities.
I recently exploited this feature to declare a huge poke-war upon one of my old roommates.

I was also considering using this Poke-war to draw attention to one spot, and then hit everyone up with a link to wolfire.
Thoughts?

Yes, we do need a group.

Facebook is a huge lookbook for college students and, recently, high school students. Basically, you upload a bunch of information about yourself, like interests and the like, and you can use that to find other people in your school who share similar interests; it's also a good way to preview roommates that have been assigned to you.
Recently, they've changed the front page so that all recent activity by your friends is displayed in chronological list form.
One thing that is displayed in this newsfeed is your "status," which is customizable to say things like "Bob is recovering from a 3-hour exam by drinking his sorrows into oblivion" or such.
I exploited this feature to say, "Mark is declaring a poke war on his old roommate, [name]. Any allies of Mark should join in on the fun!"
I have also recently exploited this feature to say, "Downloading cool games from Wolfire.com"

I was about to say something about how plugging is cheesy, but I stumbled this site, so I can't really talk.

(stumble upon, gives you semi-random sites based on your intrests)

All I want is David making more high-quality games.
I'm the kind of person who doesn't care about the means so long as my end is achieved.

Let's make a Lugaru MySpace.

And then post repeated comments on loads of band profiles and stuff going "JUST STOPPED BY TO GIVE YOU MADD PROPZ ON THE MUSIC. CHECK OUT OUR STUFF, IT'S HARDCORE." and then repost that twenty times in huge lettering.

It works.

I'd do it, but I hate myspace. So no. xD David should make one of his own, though.

Someone should definitely make one. There is a local Swarthmore one (David's college) but we definitely need a global group. I don't want to make it because that would be kind of tacky.

All it needs is the Wolfire logo.

I agree with Albab. myspace, xanga, etc. are the devil, but at least we can use it for a good cause
