Ravaged: A post-apocalyptic Battlefield?

So, as some of you stalkers may know (Just kidding, I'm not interesting enough to have stalkers), I'm a huge fan of most things post-apocalyptic. While browsing through a site related to the sub-genre, I came across this game. It's developed by an indie company, but many of the people involved have prior experience as devs of some big-name AAA titles, such as Battlefield 2, Frontlines, etc.
The game is multiplayer only, and seems to follow a "Battlefield" style of gameplay. As I'm not buying BF3 due to their DRM, I find Ravaged to be an acceptable substitute.
Anyways, they're launching a beta soon, available to those who've preordered (Sound familiar?), and I just wanted to help spread the word a little.

Am I the only one tired of the entire post-apocalyptic scene?
A year can't go by without atleast two games hitting the market with this selected theme.

Nosir, you aren't the only one. Post-apocalyptic environments are right up there with zombies and space marines.

I have no problem with zombie games as a rule as long as they're done well, zombie games should be shit scary, or at the very least make you feel uncomfortable playing while not wanting to stop (à la Resi 5) The only ones I find to be ok with not doing this is L4D, which is too damn fun to be very scary, although the director does (in my experience) have a habit of messing with your head.

Entirely tired of post apocalyptic and zombie games, I'm not sure about space marine games because I don't play too many of them, but what I really want to see in some games is some high science fiction. clean lasers and white lights.

I'm tired of all the ninja rabbit fighting games coming out. They release a new one EVERY WEEK! This needs to stop.


For a sci-fi game, I would love to see them incorporate real technologies(that are improved in the future) like super conductors(floating, among other crazy shit) and some more creative robots(like the ones in real life, such as hummingbird bots, electronic eels, and such), mind reading(not exact, but you can extract images and sounds from memory), and genetically engineered animals. An interesting world, like in the movie In time, or the entire half-life universe(although the whole rebellion thing is pretty overdone) would be awesome as well.

The characters in the Half-Life universe are pretty generic, man, from the Xen aliens to the Combine. Nothing extraordinarily creative there. Some of the technology, eh. Sure. A lot of it is basic stuff, like "LASERS" and so forth, but there are a few cool things that stand out, like the gravity gun, or those giant suppression towers that keep away Antlions.

I find with the Half Life games it isn't so much the characters and technology so much as the way it's all used. Also, the puzzles, those things confused the hell out of me when I first started playing them, although now, looking back on them, it's really emmbarasing to think most of those things were challenging...

I played through the series relatively recently (maybe starting from two years ago or so?) so I never felt particularly challenged. If you were younger, I understand some of them being a bit confusing, though :P

I was around about 13 when I first played HL2, so they shouldn't have been difficult, but I was playing it at about 3 in the morning, and it was the first time I'd gamed on a PC. Ever.
