Another addition to the 'Key' series. A fair bit more difficult than the previous puzzles imo and quite unique. However, it doesn't take long to complete once you've worked it out.
took me a few tries, but in the end I finally got the cube to stick

Yay, more maps to check out :D

I've published three maps so far.

Jump Test (this was my first map. Some of the jump trajectories are too close to the ceiling here at the moment - you're not meant to be able to die until you're on the light bridge)
Timing (this is the one I'm most happy with)
Tedium (a much larger map, which needs a few fixes to prevent test subjects from creating annoying situations)

I've had a few comments that my maps are overly lit. I'm specifically aiming for the stark, bright, artificial lab feel that Portal 1 had, so it's intentional <3

Feedback/comments welcome.

Place blue portal there and simply fling
 That wasn't intended. Fix'd. I also made the level easier to understand. Steelraven, try it now.

I did figure it out, but I got annoyed cause I kept messing up, so I cheated by

shooting the funnel thing in small increments, which automatically centers the cube, so I was able to walk it onto the button.
Good level though.

Solved. Nice job, thumbs up!

It took me a good 45 minutes to work out how to get the cube to wait at the end of the Excursion funnel, but when I solved that, the completion of the test was imminent. I like how the laser-room shows no significant purpose, unless I solved it "incorrectly."

That's the same way I solved it, Edit: Lol, I failed on the spoiler, and I just watched the video, exact same way I did it.

Have you tried the other maps(like mine)?

Working on yours at the moment.
I'm taking a break though, I'm running on no sleep.

So far, I've gotten to the water-area.

The Key's Behind The Lasers
Solved. Much better, nice work.
Didn't really see a reason for the water emitter, though.

Solved. I found the last one a bit tricky.

After playing through the "Key's Behind the Lasers" level again, I found I could skip the gels entirely. [VIDEO]

Escape v2
Solved. Although, the map is kind of broken. [VIDEO]
The entire lower level with the Propulsion gel and the companion cube is unnecessary.

Nicely done, Freshbite. I have to fix at least one thing with the level though, replaced almost all of the glass with that wire stuff, since too much glass would result in the chamber lighting breaking, I didn't realize you could fire portals through it though :P.

I was thinking of adding another fizzler to stop that happening. Forgot though. :P

Oh and I forgot to remove the water gel. It is rather pointless, yeah. xD

And thanks for the reviews.
Thinking about the next map atm. Got a sort of good idea but not sure about it. Might have to use the Hammer editor to add in some more advanced features.

Three Layered Cake
Solved. I probably won't be doing a video though because of the turret room.
There's no guaranteed method of getting rid of the them, just trial and error.

The turret-room aside, it was actually enjoyable once you understood it.

Nice and slick. Nothing unnecessary.

Jump Test (this was my first map. Some of the jump trajectories are too close to the ceiling here at the moment - you're not meant to be able to die until you're on the light bridge)
Solved. It isn't really any problem if you remember to crouch in mid-air.

It appeared to break for me. Every time I play, two of the laser-cubes stack onto each other in one of the vents... It's weird. I can't get out either of them. Resetting the vent doesn't work either. They just... float there.

Yeah, the turret room wasn't that great. I have never died on it though(except in early builds when I was still modifying it). I might modify it to make it so there is only one well guarded turret that needs some clever lasering to kill. Thanks for the review! I love you Freshbite!

That sounds like a better idea.

I guess I'll jump onto the bandwagon here. Here's my level.
It's pure shit though. It needs testing before I can decide on its difficulty.

That's where you guys come in.

So I gotta ask.

Is hammer revamped so making portal maps is easy?

I used to do a lot of mapping/modding but lost interest. Infact, I basically bought overgrowth just because I thought the engine might be fun to tinker around with. Even though it is kinda fun and easy, it's height map terrain and static mesh based buildings (rather than being able to use BSP) hasn't really inspired me much to create much.

Did you miss the memo? (If you did, see §1. If not, skip to §2)

§1: They released a simplified level editor for the game for the PC and Mac.
It's available from within the game itself and is fairly easy to use.

§2: I don't keep much track on 'das Hammer'.

I just tried it out.

It seems I have trouble rebuilding.
