Well, that sucks. Iain Banks wrote some great books, and was a fairly funny guy in interview films on the web.

I've mostly read his Science Fictions books that he wrote under the name Iain M. Banks.

They're worth checking out if you like sf, and like good, smart writing.

I particularly liked Matter, Surface Detail, and Excession, but they're all pretty good.
