Heard of Tiled Resources? That brand new, revolutionary feature in DirectX 11.2.

Yeah, turns out it's already in DirectX11... and it has been for 2 years.

It also turns out AMD already built an OpenGL extension for the same thing last year. It's known as 'Partially Resident Textures' which is also one of Microsoft's names for it as listed on the 'Tiled Resources' page.
Just thought that was rather interesting...

Yeah, I've never heard of that before this post but when I read this "by only loading in the high detail textures when the camera is pointing at them," I was just like, "I'm fairly certain that's been a thing for a long time." :P
