Banned. I'm going to have to read up on IP bans. I don't want to lock actual users out of viewing the forums. Banning usernames might be safest for now.

Odds are you would have to ban an entire IP range in order for it to be effective. :?

Their IPs look nothing like each other.
I've been banning them from the get-go, but it seems hardly efficient.

I would be faster to go to moderator panel - moderator logs and then click the poster's name. That should be fastest way to get to their profile.

Okay, the spam is still going strong. I just disapproved about 10 posts and it's only been a few hours since I last checked the forums. I'm happy to do my part in keeping the forums clean, but some sort of long-term solution really needs to be implemented soon. I'm sure I speak for other preorderers as well when I say it gets a bit annoying to disapprove 10 posts every time I revisit the forums.
Edit: Literally in the time it took me to write out this post, 3 new spam topics were created.

Phil Crumm is already working on it.

Adwuga: "I must ban the spammers"
"No Adwuga, you are the spammers."

Why would you post a link to the spam-content? I mean, I came to this thread to share a funny spam-related anecdote, but I won't post the link, just the thing that made it funny.

Any way, one thread I just banned was titled.... "Mod job". And indeed, it was a job for a mob. It was banned, and is no more.

I recently saw a post waiting for approval that said:

I don't understand russian at all, but I ran it through Google Translate and got the impression that he was asking for advice on which smartphone to get for christmas.
The post didn't contain any links.

Should this sort of post be approved or disapproved?

I find it best to just disapprove a post if you think its spam and then undo it later if it turns out to be incorrect.

EDIT:
Just got rid of "DarleneGona". The post was entirely in Russian and had Skype links. Didn't bother to click on them.

Disapprove it for another reason, such as off-topic (and give them a reason why). I mean, why would someone register an account to ask us which smart phone to purchase? Disapproving it gives the person another chance to post something relevant, or an actual advertisement, which will only be disapproved again. (and possibly lead to a ban)

Oh. I've been rather harsh on every spam thing I see in a foreign language and just getting rid of them all permanently. I have been running their thread titles through Google translate as of late though.

EDIT: I just banned 3-4 spam accounts. I was noticing something while looking through them. Some of them were made months ago. Maybe we should just delete all accounts made more than a month ago with 0 posts.
