I think making drug use illegal is hypocritical, when cigarettes and alcohol, both of which have been proven to have severely negative and even deadly effects, are legal.

I also think that making drug use illegal is stupid as well as hypocritical, given the above, and the fact that it merely puts control of the supply system in the hands of criminals and killers, who are only concerned with money, not philosophy or effects.

It also fill prisons with people who are guilty of minor drug possession, or who have become addicted through their own weakness or stupidity.

Make it legal, take the profits away from thugs, use the profits for treatment and accurate and effective anti-drug education (get rid of the DARE and "Just Say No" shit).

I also think it's really, really stupid to take drugs. The reason recreational drugs give you the effects they do is basically because they're poisons, which your body can't handle without side effects.

They'll eventually kill you, or worse, make you into a useless veg. We have enough of those already.

It's wrong to group cannabis as well as a few others together with
the addictive and damaging like meth, cocaine etc under the name "drugs".
You said drugs, which is plural, and then refered to it with "it".

But yeah, pot can certainly ruin peoples lives, since it's illegal
Anything else like the repeated "it will make you lazy and unmotivated",
I belive is entierly the users fault.
I haven't read or heard anything saying that there is something chemically
making people permanentally lazy in THC or anything else in cannabis.
So I come to the conclusion that if there are people that do, it's because
of their irresponsibility.

And I agree with Usagi, but note that cannabis has never killed.

All I'm saying is that 14 years of age is way too young to start experimenting with stuff like pot and such, and if you get used to it, you'll get a very shitty life in a very short time, always trying to scratch money together to afford it, not really caring about other people that don't smoke.. There are a lot of hidden effects.

The problem with THC is that if you're consuming it on a regular basis, all you will ever want to achieve is getting your dosis. It's a motivation killer. And it's really hard to get away from being an unmotivated piece of crap once you're there.

I wouldn't talk about addictive effects, I think there are none, apart from the nicotine addiction that's going along with it if you smoke it stretched with tobacco.

The only kind of use that is dangerous is the overdose, and you'll usually fall asleep before getting there.

Neither have cigarettes, if you're using that kind of logic.

I agree with Usagi, really. Drugs may have benefits for certain people, and may even be necesary. But then again, a potion and poison are basically the same: something your body got no control over.

I'll probably never touch drugs. I don't even take stuff for my headaches =P

Drugs are only ok when they're being used by a fictional character in a soap opera, in which case all the fictional people there probably take drugs.

Recreational drugs don't make anything in your life better, except your attitude or feelings about it, and that only temporarily. They don't enhance your perceptions or your talents: they only make you feel like they do.

You can achieve those effects permanently and for real through other means if you're willing to make the effort.

But it will never be as easy as sparking up or popping or sniffing or injecting something provided to you by a person who couldn't care less whether it kills you, let alone "demotivates" or alienates or vegetates you.

Salvia is a legal (in new york at least) halucinagen that doesn't even have an age restriction. It's not as popular as cannabis because it's supposedley more intense and "a bad trip" . I don't actually have experience with either so I couldn't say, but I do know a lot of druggies who pretty much all agree.

All I know is that I have friends who started messing with drugs and alcohol at about 15 or 16, so 14 doesn't seem like much of a stretch.

David and I had some friends who started in like seventh grade. Needless to say, things did not turn out well for them.
