Worst thing ever eaten

Post by Colicedus » Thu Feb 22, 2007 4:44 am

I have Tried many things in my time... I would like to know what, Strange things people have eaten are. you dont have to have necessarily have eaten it, but you have to have seen it eaten. Ill start

Caned Vegetarian Sausages: These were shipped over with my grandmother after coming from the states. Being 7, I never tried American food. When I bit into them, they had the consistency of Cardboard. and they were not in the eatable plastic like most sausages are in now (God bless Intestines!)

They were more molded into shape. the Preservative gave them the most of there flavor.

about a 3.2 / 10 in strangeness...

(Vegetarians, you may want to look away!)

Fish eyes: Ill start with an old fishing trip with my old man and his family.
we caught a couple of fish, and cooked them up when we got home.

after cooking it and eating it, the meat falling off the bone.
once all the meat was consumed, There were two eyes remaining...

deciding to not waste food, my old man popped the eyes in his mouth, my stepmother and Sister fought over the last one. The eye ball was white, with little black veins flowing though it. I gather thats what happens when blood is cooked. My Dad says "mmm mmmmm! Just like popcorn"

Strangeness 6 / 10
How ever, I could not try them because there were not enough eyes to go around.

Tripe Trifle: YEP... thats right! Trifle in a tripe...
not something I have eaten yet, but may make one of these days.
Strangeness NA /10 (have not tried)

Can you beat these guys?

I'll take the challenge... but I don't think I can really beat fish eyes. :)

-Snails.
-Beef tongue.
-Sea spiders, whole. The disgusting part is the peeling. Think of it exactly like dissection (if you've done some in high school), only you have to eat it at the same time.
-jellyfish (China)
-pig who had just been shot (and roasted, all prehistoric-like)
-dessert bathing in liquid pork fat (and laurel) (China)
-live seafood
-freshly shot wildfowl, with some lead still inside
-octopus tentacles (China)
-dish of fish skin (China)
-Boiled lamb liver (no other cooking involved)
-tree leaves and such (spent most of my childhood next to a forest)
-Chicken feet (China)
-...

To be honest, most of those aren't bad to eat... most of them...

Pineapple.

Mussel and baked octopus rings aren't that bad. Actually pretty darn good. So I dunno what you guys are whining about. =D

alligator.

edit: Oh wait, this is about bad things, not just weird. Alligator was quite good. I don't like shark or ostrich though.

Chicken feet, thats one of my dads favorite snacks.
I don't like em because they have very little meat and are all tendon.

the Beef tongue I hear tastes like corned beef, it sounds quite nice.

the Pig on a spit sounds good.

I really dislike chicken, it tastes too much like everything.

Image
Beef heart stuffed with sage bread stuffing cooked in tomato sauce. Not bad; it makes cool patterns when you slice it.

Image
Tamale from a lobster's head (it's actually the liver).

Image
Shrimp veins filled with shrimp poo.

I've put worse things in my mouth, but didn't actually eat them.

Fried pickles.
They shrivel up and look like slugs when done, and are extremely salty.
I had no idea what I was doing at the time, but wanted to fry a few pickles just for the hell of it.

Sure, maybe, but does it have to have no taste to it?
