I will admit now that originally when I saw you post the pics I thought you were just posting pics of someone's car, Ben. That's...wow.Grayswandir wrote:Yep.akazi wrote:Wow, are those in-game graphics for Trackmania 2?
Yeah I'm not sure Israel really has to fight for anything considering they've got their big brother over in the United States of Freedom & Liberty watching over them at all times. There's no inspiring fighting-against-the-odds films or books about to be written about Israel's "struggle".moomoohk wrote:Israeli Jews are VERY proud people. Arrogant even. They got together after the Holocaust and made themselves a comfy home in their rightful land and have since had to fight almost nonstop to keep it there.
Nothing against you, but I don't have to have been personally wronged by a person from a particular nation to dislike its culture.

True, but you should know enough about something to rightfully express an opinion about it.Renegade_Turner wrote:Yeah I'm not sure Israel really has to fight for anything considering they've got their big brother over in the United States of Freedom & Liberty watching over them at all times. Also, America hasn't helped on the field since the founding of the state. They haven't provided any training courses or anything. They pretty much only provide equipment (which we then modify heavily). It's a big help, sure, but when you're surrounded by enemies and there's a war going on, you can only count yourself really. (Fun fact: in the 80's Israel sent over pilots to train American pilots. Never happened the other way around).
I don't know what "struggle" you're talking about.

I'm starting to think having a row with Ren and surviving is beginning to become some sort of rite of passage around these parts.

Here's the car the skin is based on.

Still trying to understand why a person would make a statement like that (supposing he's not just a bigoted dumbass, which I don't think he is).Glabbit wrote:I'm starting to think having a row with Ren and surviving is beginning to become some sort of rite of passage around these parts.

It's the existence of America as Israel's big brother that deters anything ever happening against them. If anyone that Israel couldn't handle attacked them America would be on them faster than the news could even report it.moomoohk wrote:Also, America hasn't helped on the field since the founding of the state. Just because Israel has sent over a specialised unit to train Americans doesn't somehow mean they're the bigger power, which is what actually matters. A team of Irish Rangers snipers recently beat an American Spec Ops team in a competition based on recon, navigation, stalking and shooting. This doesn't mean Ireland's forces are better in any way, it means they have specialised units. How is that a measure of anything significant though?
Bigotry has nothing to do with anything I said. I don't like Israel as a state and I think that their way of governing their country rubs off on its people in a bad way. I'm not saying this without knowing anything about Israel like you claimed earlier. I've watched documentaries and read about the state. But that's not enough to have an opinion. I have to actually go to Israel I guess? lolmoomoohk wrote:Still trying to understand why a person would make a statement like that (supposing he's not just a bigoted dumbass, which I don't think he is).
These two by Yoav Shamir, an Israeli filmmaker, are particularly good.

Defamation
Couldn't find the first part to Defamation for some reason.
I marathoned this show yesterday on you and Assaultman's praise, and I must say I absolutely loved it too. There were numerous times this show made me laugh out loud and others when it made me shed a tear. The climax, however. For some reason I just felt hollow during that. I felt cheated by that ending. His future is not resolved. Does he eventually come to terms and "move on" so to speak or does he remain?Freshbite wrote:"Angel Beats!" ... I didn't even consider it at the time.
I eventually got around to it. I've now watched the series myself and ...
... *sniff* I lost my fucking shit. I've rubbed my eyes to powder over the climax.
It is, easily, one of the best series I've yet to encounter. Easily.
That is all.
