Re: randomness
I believe you are thinking of Jonathan Swift. Also yes. Pretty damn tongue in cheek.
EDIT: I'm not sure how much non-Americans will get about this, but here's this:

Just like Silverfish's computer is too fast too handle lugaru, my brain is too awesome to handle that crap.Korban3 wrote:That response reminds me of this paper written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, I believe it was. It was called "A Modest Proposal". If your username isn't adwuga, then I'd wager your brain can handle such literature. Go read that shit, it's easy to find on the web, since it's so old it's public domain now.

Re: randomness
Well, honestly, at first I thought it didn't look too bad, but I changed my mind about a minute in. Looks like unoriginal shite.
Re: randomness
Well, it's the most original Call of Duty.
And wouldn't all the horses have died from global warming by then?
And those big walkers in every sci-fi seem so impractical.

Re: randomness
Original? Right, let's see:
-Unmanned machines developed and used extensively in war: Metal Gear Solid 4
-Unmanned machines are turned against their creators: Terminator
-SLIGHTLY FOOTURE TECHNAWLIGIE: Battlefield 2142, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter & Future Soldier
-A walker ripped directly from Star Wars
EDIT: I guess relatively speaking, yeah, it's pretty original for Call of Duty.
Oh man, the horses are what really nailed the coffin in. I can only imagine that that will be one of the fifteen rail shooter levels in the game.

Re: randomness
The walkers are more Avatar-esque, but yeah, basically. Was it robot vs man or robot tech stolen by enemies and used against America? From the video I thought it was the latter, but after you said it, the first makes more sense.

Re: randomness
The old guy in the video says something like "nobody ever thought about what would happen if the enemy got the keys" (to the robots) so I'm assuming it's still terrorists, probably Russian ones, controlling the robots. Not exactly a rebellious sentient AI like in Terminator, but still the man-vs-machines-they-created conflict.

Re: randomness
Long story short, it'll be the same old crap. Zombies may have something new, but there will be no innovations with the gameplay, graphics or enemies.
Re: randomness
yup.
Re: randomness
Jonathan Swift, yeah that's the guy. Love that piece though.
Hm, yeah for CoD this is like back when Treyarch made Die By The Sword, their most recent good game. But at least they tried to do something original.
But has anyone else noticed CoD's graphics becoming almost generic and outdated? I mean, they're good yeah, but they're also sort of blah and meh. I mean, Bioshock Infinite looks amazing. Bioshock 2 has more interesting and engaging graphics than this new CoD. I know I don't usually fixate on graphics, but that's one of the biggest sellers for this FPS series and they aren't awesome or stunning so much as they're just good.
And how the fuck is this Black Ops 2? I mean, I can understand jumping time gaps and settings for a story. But how did they go from the Vietnam War to a near-future Terminator-esque and still, obviously and fucktard-tastic, terrorist driven story? Da fuck?
Maybe if they dumped their shitty shooter concept and did something more immersive and engaging for once, Treyarch could earn my, and a lot of other half-intelligent folks', respect for their new games as well as the old.

Re: randomness
Basically what it needs is (prepare for the 12 year old fanboy rage) a complete reboot of the CoD series. Stop making everything, take it back to the drawing board, make one last amazing CoD game that people will play for years and move on to a new franchise. This one is just too dated now, and there has been no innovation or, as Korban said, immersion for many titles.
Treyarch and IW have spent all their time gearing the games towards the younger audience who want to see big guns and lots of explosions. They seem to have forgotten the people who used to play, who prefer sleek gameplay and immersive storylines with decent, well thought out characters.
Unfortunately, the main source of their income is the younger audience. Meaning that they will not change, and instead will continue to instantly drop support for the previous game as soon as the next comes out, making the previous game prone to hacking/modding/lagswitching/ whatever else they do to make it completely unplayable online. Wasting the money of everyone who bought the DLC.
I was guilty of this with BlOps. Mainly for the zombie maps, I didn't think at the time, didn't realise that support for the game would be dropped as soon as BlOps 2 came out, wasting all that money I spent on the DLC. What they need to do to remedy this is make the next title play the old maps. Meaning all that money didn't go to waste, and that you can continue to enjoy them. Also, no selling us our old maps like they did with the "Rezzurection" pack.
Think that covers just about everything... Oh wait, graphics, they haven't taken a huge leap since Mod1, since they have a 24 month turnover period. Meaning that they don't have the time to update the graphics and make the game as pretty as the competitors. (Just compare Mod3 to BF3)
In short, I enjoy CoD, but only ever play it when I have a group of friends to make the modding and insanely overskilled competitors less enraging. IW/Treyarch will continue to abandon players and force them onto the next title. Financially, a great idea, since they get huge income from everyone flooding to buy the next title. Morally, well... Decidedly less than great.
[/Rant]

Re: randomness
Has anyone else played Hell's Highway? That was an awesome shooting game. I mean, I loved that game. The setting was cliche, yeah, but the gameplay was fantastic and the immersion wasn't terrible although there was a handful of GUI elements to muddle it up. I'd love to see Treyarch give CoD it's last hurrah and move on to a new idea. But, as said, not likely. Hopefully, they just fizzle out and go away after a while, leeching themselves dry by sticking to CoD for too long.

Am I the only one hearing:
"touching the cock that's beating within" ... ?
Good song, none the less.
