DDOS Protection

Post by Somewhat49 » Wed Jan 08, 2014 6:41 pm

Is the DDOS protection thing that checks your browser really necessary? I just had it happen twice where I was writing a reply and had my whole post wiped because it would check my browser randomly and send me back the the post page erasing everything I wrote already.

Wouldn't be so much a problem if both posts didn't take half an hour to write....

If you're using a relatively modern browser, you can just go back a page or two. The browser saves the text you enter in the "previous" windows. I've been able to save a post I "lost" by doing this.

It is a very annoying problem though.

Edit: the very next post after this one was a long one, and disappeared even with the "previous" trick. The machine must have heard me! It's clever, and it's learning! I hope it

What is going on? Who are you talking about? Is it a member?

... what have I missed?

Edit: Okay, I see.

Yea it seems posting stuff using a phone is impossible now unless you're one of those godly people who understand how to properly select text, then copy it, then paste it.
Whenever I tried to post using a phone it will check if the browser is legit right after I press submit, then log me out for some strange reason...

It would be alright if it only applied to new members, but as regulars, a script should be run to exclude some of us from having to go through this. It is kinda annoying.

I have no problem with the script existing (and being applied to everyone), so long as it can be fixed so that it doesn't delete what you've written.

I've never had it delete anything I've written, btw. It only happens when I first go to make a post or edit one, and then doesn't happen again for the entirety of my stay on the forums.
