I don't see how you can claim that Blizzard sucks since they made WoW, which is pretty much a game that's entranced more players than any other game so far. I'm saying probably from my own experiences, statistics may say different.

I mean I hate World Of Warcraft, but they must have done a brilliant job on it or else so many people would not play it.

I.e. Blizzard does not suck.

imo, WoW is just like every other MMO in the top 10, EXCEPT FOR its art style...that is the only thing that's keeping it popular, as stated in some big-time reviews and probably the fact that it's made by reliable ol blizz probably has somethin to do with it (no sarcasm)

I've always wondered, what's the difference between Guild Wars and World of Warcraft, besides the fact that WoW has a subscription fee? I don't play those games, so I wouldn't know :P

well, Guild Wars kinda sucks cuz it almost works like Gauntlet Seven Sorrows, sure you can meet andchat with others in towns but RPing is limited to groups of 4 unless you're in the Factions campaign in which you can have 8...NPCs are included...you can also RP alone but each party of 1-4 (or 8) has its own seperate copy of the area, thus eliminating the idea of an "MMO"RPG...it's more of just an MORPG...also, the only PvP in Guild Wars is done in specified arenas against random opponents...no, you aren't allowed to choose your opponent...ever...so overall think of this for Guild Wars:
1. Towns are used as lobbies
2. RPing is limited to 4 people NPC or real player...both count
3. there are TONS of loading screens
4. during loading screens, the areas you are going into are auto-patched so sometimes loading takes longer
5. more lifelike graphics, but tend to be more sinister and dreary looking
6. s**t for a storyline
7. ONE SERVER FOR ALL OF THE PLAYERS ON ALL 3 CAMPAIGNS...all 3 are linked, too, cuz you can travel anywhere, generally you have to beat a quest to unlock a different campaign with a char and you have to own that campaign.
8. lag
9. less wepon choices
10. monsters have higher levels than you can reach - you can reach 20, they can reach somwhere from 15-30

dammit!!! getting me off topic again!!! grrrrr...BACK ON TOPIC!!!

Yup! I mean, I hate Bush, but he must have done a brilliant job in his first term as president or else so many people would not have re-elected him.

Yeah, well, it's not like WoW got progressively worse over time, either.

Completely taken out of context much?

Yeah, like those two things are the same.

Poor analogy there.

Blizzard's intention in creating World of Warcraft was to get subscription payments from millions of gamers, and thus the success of the game is directly proportional to its popularity. The job of a president is not to get votes, but to lead the country in a positive direction, so his success as president is not necessarily related to his popularity.

We're not talking about what a president's job is supposed to be, but what it actually is, and all presidents are focused in their first terms on getting re-elected. Not solely in some cases, but largely...

The analogy's perfectly valid. I'm saying you can't use public opinion as a judge of anything because humans are idiots.

Posit: Humans are idiots.
Assumption: U479 is human.
Ipso facto: U479 is an idiot.

On topic, I'm not an RTS fan in general, but I s'pose StarCraft's one of the better games of the genre. Let's see how the sequel works, though, judging by the previous off-topic topic...

Well...popular opinion is something to go by in terms of games, because if most people like the game, that means the game will be extremely successful and it pleased the highest amount of people so they will come back for more the next time they release a game..

Isn't that what Blizzard as a developer is aiming for?

I.e. Blizzard is a success as a developer because it creates games that many many people buy.

...and presidential elections is completely unrelated so it was in fact a poor analogy. You can't compare the two...

Not much humanity...?

Someone tell me he didn't just imply that he was evil or some crap like that...

Your point is valid if you were saying that "Blizzard is a good developer because it makes games which enough people like that it becomes rich," but since it was being said that Blizzard's a good developer because it makes _good_ games, then public opinion is hardly the best critic. Popularity =/= quality, that's all I'm saying, with regard to games. And most things.

Want a more game-related analogy? Fine. Look at Runescape.

Yes that heap of tripe does attract a wide fanbase.

I guess they succeeded with that one then.
