The film was pretty disappointing, but the series is actually very nice. Called Blood+ if I recall correctly.

Blood + was pretty good. A bit slow at points, mainly because of how many episodes there were. But a good series overall.

Yeah, it drags you in at the beginning, but after the first few eps, it gets kinda slow. Anyway, the last 20 episodes or so are really written and executed well.
