well, it was that or have what i said be invisible...hmm...well, to summarize
we're both starting bands and we're taking it at different paces...both bands have been around since about december/january (same amount of time, thats all)...we're also considered the head of it and organize our own bands. here are the differences in our approach
- he's been promoting his band but he's only been leaking his own recordings, not of the band as a whole, but himself...my band's been waiting to do anything (including get a page set up) until we sit down and get some recordings done
- he's been playing guitar and actually tracking the world of music and production of music for 1 1/2 months, i've been doing it for 1 1/2 years and he thinks his word is over mine
- he's overzealous, his cousin just got signed to fueled by ramen and i think he wants to live up to his cousin (he started the band before this happened but his pace has increased since then) my band isn't living up to any expectations except being able to enjoy this
- he thinks it's alright to put his solo stuff on his band's page and promote his band by sending recordings of himself only to people like the Gym Class Heroes for evaluation without his entire band (i don't think he's told his band this yet) my band is yet to find anyone to send it to
- he thinks recording demos on his crappy computer mic is ok (i mean the demos you would send to record labels to see if you get signed) my band would pay for a local studio (they're cheap here in South Carolina) so that it would be a quality demo
- he thinks that the one who promotes fastest and has the least done by the time the promotion has attracted people is alright, my band won't promote til we have anything
- he thinks promoting an album taht has not even had its list of songs compiled, let alone recorded is ok (in otherwords, right now he's promoting an inexistant album that might stay that way for the next few months)
- he thinks that just because Fall Out Boy and Panic! At the Disco added his band to their friends lists on Purevolume means that they're automatically going to be signed to Fueled by Ramen soon...while i know better...
hmm...taht's it for now, if i find more that i mentioned there, i'll post

Just make music and have fun doing it. Albums and all that comes when you rule. You don't rule if you don't have a crowd. Stop talking, do your thing, let your friend do his thing, see how it turns out and don't take anything too seriously.
Just get some live gigs and amaze some chicks. That's what it's really about.
Why do I have to tell you that?
